  • Solid A-Tier Power Supply; Worthy of a High End System at a Fair Price
Size: 850W
Pros: * Good build quality * Good holdup time * Low ripple * Good transient response * Very quiet fan (even in non-eco mode); Lamda A+ rating on noise. * Nice looking sleeving on PCIe, EPS, and ATX cables * Stays cool even under heavy load * Worked 100% out of the box * Price (after -$30 coupon is fair; $120 for the 850 watt model. Other A-tier models were more. * Nice pouch for unused cables * Reasonably short on depth * Cable length is perfect for a mid-tower; if you have a larger case, you may want extensions * No problems on stress test (see full system specs * Just barely misses Platinum level efficency at 220. Misses by more at 110, but still exceeds Gold level by a healthy amount. * Good independent reviews. Cons: * Cables have caps in them. A plus for ripple, but a minus on appearance. * PCIe cables are pigtailed; I prefer one connector per cable. * Other than where the caps are, the cables are really slim; it is fine from an appearance point of view, but I wonder if they are really using 18ga wire. Overall review/system specs: Gigabyte X570 Master Ryzen 7 5800X Patriot 4400 MT/s DRAM 8g x 4, Running at 15-15-15-15-32 3800MT/s PowerColor Liquid Devil 6800XT WD BLack SN850 500GB x2 Sabrent Rocket 1TB WD Black 6TB HDD Custom loop with two 360mm radiators 8xNoctua Redux 1700RPM PWM fans CPU and GPU both highly overclocked, total system draw at max (excluding short spikes): about 600w Phanteks Pro 2 case So, obviously a high end system with very demanding power draw with some heavy transients. I trust this PSU with my system, so obviously I have a lot of confidence in this PSU. I was going to go with a Coesair RMX850x or a Seasonic PX-850, but they were both $160 at my time of purchase and this was $120. All three of these PSUs are top picks in the A-tier on the LTT PSU tier list. Bottom line: I am picky with my components and I am pleased with this PSU. ... show more

  • Semi-passive is nice, but...
Size: 850W
***READ THE NEWEST UPDATE*** The fan is honestly quite loud once it kicks in. Initially, I didn't think that this would be an issue because I expected it to only need the fan under heavy load. However, even just browsing the internet or doing some light work it will occasionally spin up for about 30 seconds. A small nitpick, but with an NH-D15, Noctua case fans, and a pretty quiet fan curve, it kinda kills the vibe. The noise level is comparable to the 3.5 inch HDD also in the build which also kills the quiet vibe. Obviously, this isn't an issue when gaming or doing more intensive work because everything else is gonna be a little louder and just drown it out. I also compared it to my previous 600W 80+ EVGA unit and the fan on that is near silent despite running 24/7. It looks cool, no dumb lights, whatever glass panels are silly anyways. Legendary brand reputation, good warranty, and I trust this thing to last and work just as it should for years to come. The cable length is adequate for any case I've ever seen and short enough to tuck away pretty nicely in my FT03. The cables come in a nice little velcro bag. Dunno if that's industry standard but it's cool. Overall I'd still recommend this unit. If the fan was quieter it would be 5 stars no problem. But if you're really prioritizing silence, do a little more research than I did. EDIT 1: I'm dumb. It's really best to just leave the fan in 24/7 mode instead of allowing it to ramp up to crazy high speeds only when it's getting too hot. BUT even at a constant low RPM it really isn't very quiet so my 4 star still stands. EDIT 2: I'm double dumb. Turns out having a fixed voltage on my CPU for its overclock makes everything hot and makes the PSU work harder than it needs to at idle, therefore spinning the fan faster in the constant mode. Updated to 5 stars. After setting up adaptive voltage, I only notice an increase in noise when I'm in my case flipping the switch from active to passive and listening for it. ... show more

  • HP 8300 CMT upgrade
Size: 650W
This power supply fit the HP 8300 CMT perfectly except for drilling 2 new holes in the tower. If your attempting this upgrade you know what I am talking about. The adapter I purchased off amazon and it was wired right out of the box except for the f1 error and I hear it goes away. I bought one out of China but no telling when it'll get here. Moddiy claims the 515 error will not happen with their cable but that it is specific to the 8300 CMT. At the time of this writing the power supply is working flawlessly and the fan is whisper quiet. ... show more

  • Fantastic power supply and quieter than I'm used to!
Size: 850W
Bought this because I was using a 750W with only 2 PCI-E cables to power a 3080 and wanted to avoid daisy-chaining. This was a really good purchase! I know SuperFlower is relatively new to the US market so I was a little cautious, but I have zero complaints. This is just as reliable as my older Antec/SeaSonic/EVGA power supplies, was cheaper than those brands, and the passive cooling makes it quieter. I'm happy with this. ... show more
