  • Bad Business Practices
While this filament is "ok", SUNLU is soliciting free filament or partial refunds when you buy more than one roll for an Amazon review via their Twitter account. Avoid this brand.

  • Non-usable period!
Color: Green
I've tried every combination of settings only to waste my time with this fillament. Using Creator pro with heated bed, heat settings from 180 to 240 in 5 deg increments, different bed settings, fan settings, speeds, layer thickness, retraction you name it. Printing proven prints that came out fine with other regular PLA. ... show more

  • Consistent results across several prints
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I wanted to try out some filament from a couple different providers. Sunlu did not disappoint. It was also vacuum sealed upon arrival. I printed a couple dice towers in draft settings with 0.20mm layers. I was going for a rough aesthetic for the tower itself. Base was Sunlu Black PLA, then I used Silver Rub'n Buff on top of it with old t-shirt scraps. Very happy with the overall results/project. ... show more

  • Would give Zero stars if I could. Nice Looking, but that's about it. Won't buy again.
Color: Silk Green
Over the last several weeks, I've purchased and used 8 or so different colors and brands of 1.75mm PLA filaments. This brand is the worst I've used. Build plate adhesion is fine, but the internal strength of the models is poor. I know it's not the design, because I can print the exact same gcode with another filament, and have great results, whereas this one is weak and breaks much much easier. I've tried using different temperatures, and nothing is great, but 200 degrees has worked slightly better than 190. More stringy, more shrinkage, and just not good results. There are better brands out there. Get those. Update - I've been trying to "use it up" by printing little trinkety models for some kids. The filament is wound so poorly on the spool that caught, and screwed up the print. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have screwed up my printer, but I'm going to end up throwing away more than 50% of it (I bought 2 spools of 2 different colors, and they both were awful. ... show more

  • Exactly what i was looking for
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. When looking for a filament, i have a few goals in mind such as; smoothness, shine, layer adhesion, strength and stringing. This filament has a very smooth quality about it. Very low shine, which is what i want, it has great layer adhesion and since its PLA+ it has greater strength. When i watched all my prints, a total of 14 hours, i had ZERO strings and no oozing, which i get with other brands of filament. I have prjnted many parts for my cnc machine with this filament and its been great. One note, i always use hairspray for my bed no matter what brand of filament i am using. This filament sticks very well so i use less hairspray. I have attached some photos and videos Thanks ... show more

  • Bought this PLA+ because of the claims it is stronger than regular PLA
I purchased this PLA+ in black because I was looking for a stronger PLA filament than your usual brand. I needed something I can use to print my custom license plate holder I have been designing along with other prints electronic housings I sell. PLA+ Strength: This PLA+ filament is much harder, but at the same time elastic. It would take much more strength to bend this printed PLA+ to a bending or breaking point than normal PLA. PLA+ Layer Color: The color (purchased black) is different than you would see from regular PLA. For one, the outside is glossy black. This is a gloss that I haven’t seen in any of the normal PLA filaments I’ve used. It looks like silk on the vertical sides of a print. It is very shiny, and I like it. PLA+ First Layer Color: This is really unlike any filament I’ve seen. The bottom layer of the print ends up looking almost like carbon fiber with a shine. I really can’t explain it. Overall, this PLA+ filament works great for all my projects. I only had to UP the hot end to 215C on my 3D printer to properly print. ... show more

  • Very nice Silk Silver filament
Color: Silver
So first I want to say that this is a very silky looking filament, but it is a little troublesome to dial it in. I’ve experienced this with all Silk like filaments I’ve used and this is no different. After doing some testing and comparing it to other Silk silver filaments I have I noticed that this one has a blueish tint to it which I like very much. It is very subtle and only really noticeable when placed next to other Silk silver prints. At .16mm layer heights made the models almost have no layer lines. I think if it was done at a .12mm layer they would disappear completely. This filament for ME worked best at slightly higher temps. I was printing this around 210-220C depending on the model and if it had steep overhangs. I ran the parts cooling fan @100% and had no issues with color consistency. So if you’re looking for a really nice, smooth, shiny silver silk like filament then SunLu silk silver is a great choice. ... show more

  • Much better than I had anticipated
I was initially leery of buying this filament but decided to give it a try after reading over the other reviews. Ran through almost an entire 1kg spool of the black PLA+ printing out a large solder fume extractor with high infill. While it isn't a true black color but more of a darkish gray, it printed like butter on my Prusa i3 MK2S. I'm quite happy with the results and while the color doesn't really matter too much to me, it might to you. I used 215C for the hotend and 60C for the heated bed. Adhesion was just fine on the PEI surface, and even at 0.2mm layer height it had a quality much closer to printing with 0.1mm. Compared to other low-price filament like Tianse, I would say this one is a couple steps above those. ... show more
