Description
What is annealing and why do I need it? Annealing heats printed parts to relieve internal stress, making them stronger and more dimensionally stable. The E2 is the first dryer that does both drying and annealing in one machine. Can it dry PA/Nylon and PC filaments? Yes—up to 110°C. Most dryers only go to 60-70°C, which isn't enough for engineering filaments like PA6-CF or PC. How long does it take to heat up? With its 500W PTC heater, the E2 heats to 70°C in just 30 minutes—30% faster than the previous S4 model. This means less waiting and more printing. Is it compatible with regular filaments like PLA and PETG? Yes. While optimized for engineering materials, the E2 also supports PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, and TPU. It's a versatile tool for any 3D printing workflow, from hobbyist to professional. How many spools can it hold? The E2 has a dual-chamber design that holds 2×1KG, 2×2KG, or 1×3KG spools. I had two low end eSun filament dryers that worked well for PLA and TPU, and barely managed to work for PETG. Now, I'm rocking a Creality K1 Max, and am looking to try my hand at a couple different types of engineer grade filament, the first being PC (Polycarbonate) filament. According to my research, this filament is VERY hygroscopic, and printed parts should be annealed. But my little eSun dryers, which max out at 55 degrees Celsius, aren't up to either task. When this dryer went on a slight sale, I grabbed it. As I summarize in the review title, this thing is a beast. Super solid, well built, and best of all, you can "set it and forget it", in a sense. Yes, this machine is constructed of plastic primarily. But it's very thick, durable plastic with metal used where needed. You don't need to be a hulk to lift and carry this, mind, but a flimsy featherweight this machine is not. I'm so happy to say that you just use this machine by it's front panel. I'm quite sick of everything having or needing an app! It's nice to press this machine's buttons and work parameters, no phone, no touchscreen. While I haven't annealed parts with it yet, this dryer has absolutely baked out the PLA, TPU and PETG spools I've dried in it with careless ease. I already know, both by seeing the maximum temperatures of this dryer and how easily it dried my old filaments, that it's going to handle my PC filament when that time comes! Since I haven't had this dryer for long I can't comment on reliability. But based on my experience up to now, I can (and have!) recommended this dryer to folks that have need of such a robust, potent machine.

Initial impressions are good - unit is well built and seems to be high quality. One of the comments said the unit was extermely quiet, and that's not true at all. It may be quieter than a blow dryer, but it's not silent by any means. I don't knock it for that but the review was misleading and I bought based off that.

Very bad quality control. This is an expensive filament dryer so I expected more when I took it out of the boxi heard loud rattling inside. So I was scared to plug it in in case something loose in there was going to short out so I went ahead and removed the bottom of the unit and there were two loose screws inside and what is odd is I didn't see any screws missing and one of the screws was a hex head and one was a Philips there were no hex head screws on mine so apparently a couple random screws just got lost in there I thought I was good at that point so I put the cover back on and plugged it in now that I got the rattling in the loose screws out of there but when I plug it in it runs for a short period of time and then shuts off. So apparently the damage must have been already done from the loose screws maybe it testing at the factory or whatnot. Sun loo really needs to step up if you sell a filament dryer this expensive quality control should be a lot better. Now I'm going to have to return when I get back from vacation.

Build quality on this is great. Really feels like a premium filament dryer. It does run hot which is fine as during the winter months, it would probably have zero issues holding temperature. I wish I could rate it higher but it only worked for 1.5 hours while I was annealing high temp pla and then just shut off and won’t power on. No lights, no screen, tested a separate outlet as well as unplugging the cord from the back and reseating it and turning the master power on and off. I do have a replacement coming from Amazon as it’s within that window and I don’t want to be throwing replacement parts at a brand new machine so we will see how that one turns out. Update: The replacement dryer has been working great for several weeks so far with regular use from 50c to 100c so I am increasing my star rating from 1 to 3 stars. If the original one had worked well from the start, I would have probably rated it a solid 5 stars but as of now, I can’t be certain how long it will actually last and for the price, my expectations were set fairly high. I feel a solid middle of the road rating is sufficient at the time.

This is a solid product. you can tell right out of the box that this product is well made. Nothing about it feels cheap. Great for drying and annealing high temp engineering filaments. The appearance very sleek and visually appealing. The dryer box has several different places for you to feed the filament out of so you can route the filament the way you want, making tangling a non issue. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a high temp dryer box that doubles as an annealer.

The Sunlu E2 should really be labelled the Sunlu E2 Anneal Oven and Filament Dryer. Yes, it is the priciest dryer. The value in this dryer over its competitors is it's 110C max temp for annealing, and drying of engineering filaments. In this aspect, its in a league of its own. If you aren't going to be annealing or using engineering filaments, I would go with the Sunlu SP2, or if you're a Bambu person, the AMS Pro 2 or AMS HT. The auto-dry M3 mode where it turns on the dryer if the internal humidity hits 30% is nice. The Sunlu E2 is well made and it's OSD is relatively easy to use and straight forward. The plastic is very sturdy and very thick. There are some things I would prefer be improved: 1. I do wish it could do auto spool rotation, or the ability to keep the chamber more air tight, both of which the Bambu AMS Pro 2 and AMS HT can do. 2. It would be nice if there was an auto valve for allowing for the release of humid air.

I bought this as it has higher temperature settings and will accommodate a 3 Kg. spool. It is a solid unit. It works well drying engineering filament like nylon and PET-GF and PET-CF.
