I was quite frightened by what to expect given the affordability of this Pergola, but have been surprised and blow people away when I tell them the cost. I mean, it's not the best quality possible, but I'm kinda picky, and really this is good quality. It definitely isn't flimsy or thin or anything. Now with that said, it *was* missing one ring that was needed - which I substituted a zip tie and it works fine. I"m too lazy to reach out to the manufacturer... but that's lame when everything isn't in the package. Secondly, the instructions are a little rough -- and worse, the bolt labeling is just plain wrong. Wasn't too hard to figure out, but like a lot of these affordable things, something went wrong somewhere, and you're left figuring out which bolts go in which holes. Not really a problem, but I don't like the fear I get when I think a bunch are missing or won't fit, or I got ripped off. It would be so easy to print new instructions... but well, again for the price I am still happy. Upper fabric is plastic coated, and feels pretty heavy duty, while looking quite nice. It will drip through in the rain -- but holds out light sprinkles. Relatively strong Magnets keep the shades closed or open as you wish -- which I didn't even expect, but its an important feature when comparison shopping. ... show more

Screws missing. Very frustrating to put together. No written instructions so had to keep redoing things that were put together incorrectly the first time. Love how it looks and is pretty sturdy. Held up to heavy rain the first weekend after we put it up

*I ended up getting this from another retailer due to a stock situation. Omg - I love it and have no complaints. Yes, it is technically 8.5x10.5 (pole dimensions), top dimensions are 9x12. The instructions are not bad at all - I was expecting a nightmare, they were so simple and the build is easy if you're not careless. I was careless and had to spin one of the supports - no fault of the directions. My husband and I had it up in 2 hours and it's definitely sturdy. We didn't want to drill our patio so we used pots with stone to anchor it. I was literally terrified to buy this, but I can't spend upwards of $4,000 on one built off of my house right now. I feel like a lot the bad reviews are self inflicted, either due to carelessness or lack of research (you can find this thing on at least 5 different websites with more detailed dimensions and more reviews).
