TLDR: These lights are awesome. As good or better than box store quality at an 1/3 the price. I've been looking for the perfect lighting solution for my laundry room. I've tried every style of "can" lighting their is and these by far surpassed my expectation. Very clean install and the separate wiring box saved time and money. Not to mention the box unplugs so you can wire it in and then plug the fixture into it. For being only 4 inches these this are bright and the angle of light is awesome! They beat out any bulb style can in my opinion and I've used them heavily for about 6 months now in a very hot environment with no issue. Plus with a 5 year warranty what's to worry about. Instant light, none of that dim-to-bright buildup some LEDs have. Super clean finish look even on my heavily textured ceilings. I wish I'd found these sooner. I wish I had pictures to compare to all the other lights this size I tried in this space but take my word, these are the best and will probably end up replacing a good amount of the lighting in my home. ... show more

I originally purchased the "Sunco Lighting 6 Pack 4 Inch Remodel Housing" with the intention to add additional lighting to my family room. After cutting the holes in my ceiling there was a drain pipe in the way, the remodel housings were too tall to fit. I returned the remodel housings to amazon and purchased these - these were perfect! They were very easy to install, provide outstanding lighting and estehticaly sleek. I will definitely be purchasing more in the future! ****Note: you will need to purchase 3/8 in. conduit clamp connectors to secure the electric wire as it enters the black box**** Update: 2 years later one of the bulbs burnt out. I called Sunco and they immediately sent me a replacement bulb at no charge. So glad that Sunco stands by the quality of their products. Used these for my theater room with a drop ceiling. Easy to install. I used a 110mm hole saw which is slightly smaller than what's called for but worked perfect. Very bright. They have a strong retainer spring which easily holds them in place. Wired them to a dimmer switch. I like the warm yellow lighting they produce compared to the white light of the higher end of the spectrum. Only thing I didnt like was that one of the boxes, the cap for where the wiring is housed, had a weak snap and wouldn't stay shut once wired. Nothing a little black tape didnt fix. All in all, Very happy with how they operate and the brightness, even being 4". ... show more

We got these lights for our basement that we are renovating. We bought two 6 packs; 2700K for the living room area and 3000k for the kitchen area. We installed these in a drop ceiling in which they worked very nicely. By far my biggest complaint is the actual wiring process. If you're like 95% of the people buying these, you will be wiring multiple on a single circuit/switch. This means each junction box will have two sets of 14 AWG (or worse, 12 AWG) wire and the actual wire for the lights (which honestly appears like 16 AWG). The problem is the junction boxes are very small and the included wire nuts are very small. The wire nuts will work for two 14 AWG wires and the light wire but it is a tight fit and needs to be lined up perfectly (no way these nuts will work for 12 AWG). Additionally, the wires for the lights aren't really stripped enough, so anticipate having to strip them a little more. This, and working with the limited space of the junction box, means wiring each light takes 4x longer that it could have. Dimming is great with my Leviton DSL06-1LZ dimmers. However, I have noticed that the dimmer itself has a slight buzz, as does the circuit breaker at the panel (only audible if you turn your ear to it within about 10 inches). It does not appear to hinder functionality but keep in mind LED compatibility is hit or miss and not all dimmers are compatible with all types/brands of LEDs. Despite the challenges, I do like these lights. The 2700K is the perfect soft light for a living room area. The 3000K appears very white to me but should be suited well for the kitchen area. These don't produce as much light as a typical 6 inch light might be capable of, so anticipate using more of these 4 inch units. Despite not being 'recessed,' these lights appear recessed unless you take a close look when their off. Aside from the earlier complaints, the junction box is nice as you can attach it just about anywhere and still have flexibility in where you put the light. If you can be patient with the install, these are solid lights and I would recommend them. We will probably be getting more for other parts of the house. I just hope they last as long as advertised. ... show more

Not sure what happened, but I ordered the 650 lumen and I got sent 700. So when I dim my lights, I have a few of them that are a lot brighter than the others. Kind of disappointed, but still great lights and don’t feel like returning them, so there’s that.

Easy to install, but one false move and the spring will break making the light useless unless you want to glue it to the ceiling. They also last less than 4 months so you have to change them out frequently like an old fluorescent bulb, and hope that the spring doesnt break...

My Dad told me about these when I was looking to put in recessed lights. He is an electrician and said they were good for easy retro installs and didn't need a can. He was right! These things were so easy to install. They are very low profile, have a seperate junction box, and have a plug to keep out of the way until ready to connect up. Even better was the price. Cheaper than any retro product at blue or orange box stores and waaaay nicer then either one had in stock. I will definitely be buying more for other rooms. Dimmer works excellent with these.
