These are for retrofit only, meaning that existing ceiling cans are required for them to work. That said, they worked perfectly and not counting the time to set up and move the ladder, I had all four installed in about 15 minutes. The slide switch on top gives 5 different color temps from 2400k to 5000k (basically soft white to daylight) — just be sure to set the level you want before mounting each unit (although in my installation each unit will slide down far enough to reach the switch without removing it from the ceiling can). In short, these were perfect for what I needed and we couldn’t be happier with them. ... show more

We've had big 6" gimbal can lights in our house for decades. The old gimbals came down to nearly two inches from the ceiling, so they just looked ugly and dated. I replaced them all with these units and the difference is amazing. They have a much lower profile and they use far less electricity. They look so modern in comparison, but they also nearly dissappear when the lights are off. The ability to charge the color temperature without changing a bulb is a game changer. ... show more
