Easy to wire up - I put a pigtail with a plug on so I just plugged them in

  • Home, office, factory or farm... you'll need these the next time the power goes down.
Size: 2 Pack
I got these Sunco Emergency Lights to help be prepared for power outages that seem to occur more frequently and much longer with each passing year. The latest one lasted 3 days! I selected the 2 pack of these lights and wired each of them separately with short plugs that could be plugged in and charging near where we keep the rest of our emergency equipment. There are meant to be hard wired into a home or commercial facility, but we’re using them as immediately available emergency lighting we can take to any room in the house and set on a table or counter to give some function light to the location. If you plan to permanently hard wire them, there are a variety of options. They can be wired on a ceiling or a wall and the base of the light has mounting marks for almost any type of electrical box to attach the light to. There is also an opening on the light that would accept a surface mount conduit that would let you electrical connection come in from the top, bottom or side, depending on how you position the light. The two light heads are very adjustable and can tilt and swivel to a wide range of positions that will let you adequately light almost any area. Each light in this 2 pack comes in its own box. There are screws and anchors in the envelope with the instructions if you plan on mounting the light directly to drywall or wood. When you unpack the light there are three wires that protrude out the back of it. There is a Common White wire, a Black wire for 120 volt installations (household and office wiring) and a Red wire for 3 phase locations. In my work experience I’ve encountered 3 phase wiring in factories and large farming operations. In all cases you use the common wire and either the black or the red wire, which ever is right for your location. There is no ground wire to deal with. Now, if you’re like me and you tend not to read the instructions, you will probably have skipped a very crucial step as I initially did. You get at the “innards” of this light by using a small screw driver to release the two clips that hold on the back of the light. Then tip the back of the light out on the edge where those clips are and you can lift off the back. The crucial step I missed by not reading directions was to plug in the battery connection which is left disconnected inside the light so the battery still has some juice when it arrives at your location. Push that connector into the open socket until you hear a slight click. The light is ready to be functional once you complete the wiring. The documentation that comes with the lights say they will provide a minimum of 90 minutes of emergency lighting once you let the battery charge up for 24 hours. When you have everything connected properly the AC ON light with glow bright red and there is a test button right next to it that you can push to make sure the emergency lights come on. This will verify that the connections are proper, the battery is charged and the lights are not having any failures. I wanted to test the 90 minute promise in the documentation so I let the battery charge up for a day or two and then timed how long I actually had emergency light using time lapse photography. While it dimmed a little towards the end of the battery charge I had usable light for 2 hours, 17 minutes and 48 seconds! I’m impressed and ready for the next power failure. And speaking of power outages, we’re having a bit of an ice storm right now so I’m glad I have these wired, charged up and ready to go. • Good quality lights, light lasts for hours.
Size: 2 Pack
Got these for my mothers house, she has winter power outages in her area. These have a quality outer case, which is very sturdy, and the best thing about it is that you really just mount a base plate to the wall, then the light itself snaps onto the base plate. No screws are left showing after you are finished, very sleek looking. Don't forget to plug the battery connector onto the mainboard before you snap the light on. After charging for several hours, I pulled the light offto see how long it stayed on. I figured it might be 30 minutes or so, but it ended up being more than 2 hours, maybe even 3. Plenty long enough to get done finding flashlights, or starting a generator. The lighs can be easily aimed in all directions. I can't think of anything I didn't like, it's a really good set of lights. ... show more

  • This works great in all my tests!
Size: 2 Pack
This safety back up light has worked in every test I've put it through so far. The main things you need to know when you receive your light is that you will need to open the back of the unit with a small flat head screw driver as a lever to unlatch the back panel. Secondly you'll need to cap or tape off the included 277v red wire (unless you have 277v wiring in your home or business). Always make sure that your power is OFF and the circuit is disconnected before ever attempting to wire any electrical device. Next, I must mention that you will need to connect the battery (red and black cable) to the corresponding female clip on the middle right compartment in the light. Then connect the power cable that comes from the outside of the device to the corresponding port that connects to the battery circuit. Once you've connected the battery and the power source wires close the back of the unit. Then you can proceed to wire it into the wall or ceiling. I would urge anyone who isn't comfortable with wiring electrical to call an electrician to do it. Otherwise this is a great device that works perfectly as described. Perfect backup lighting for emergencies. I'll continue with my tests and update my review further if needed. ... show more

  • Work at my single family residence
Size: 2 Pack
At my single family residence, these emergency light units work very well to illuminate my electrical panel, the place I store my portable generators, and the pathway from the house interior to these locations. They provide plenty of light as you can see by included photos. The lighting units are very basic and inexpensive, just what I need in my single family garage. The battery pack looks to be very easy to replace at whatever point in the future it becomes necessary. I'm not qualified to recommend these units as compliant units for commercial use - please research the requirements for yourself if you have a commercial need. Often fire inspectors and/or your local building department can provide additional information or can refer you to the proper authority in your area. ... show more

  • Great for home power outage
Size: 2 Pack
I was looking for some emergency power outage lights and came across these (set of 2). Very lightweight, LED lights that were quite easy to install The hardest part was fishing a line up inside the wall since these lights are direct wired. The base of the unit is about 4 1/2 x 10 inches and the LED lights are both 4 x 4 inches. The lights can rotate 360 degrees and then swivel 180 - hope that makes sense. I can’t verify how long the lights stay lit once the power goes out but can tell you they are bright when I test them I live in a ranch with a finished basement so I wired one upstairs and one downstairs, but hope I never need them! The only con I can see is that you can’t turn the light off to conserve battery if you lose power in the middle of the day. It’s on until the battery dies. ... show more
