I like the size of this hose roller/cover. I read a review saying it doesn’t hold 100’ of hose. I have 50’ of “flat” rubber hose and it fits it perfect! The short jumper/connector hose it comes with suuuuuucks. It leaks and sprays water everywhere, so I’ll have to buy another one. I do like this hose roller though, good for 50’ of hose. ... show more

    • Great Way to Store a Garden Hose

I have been using the hideaway for a few weeks and I am editing the part of my review about the hideaway moving on a concrete surface when the hose is unrolled at a distance. I found this not to be the case. The reason that the hideaway moved is because a Morning Glory vine entered the hideaway through the bottom and wound around the reel preventing the hose to unroll. The hose unrolled without any problems after I removed the vine. -------- The hideaway stores your garden hose keeping it out of the rain and snow. I plan on keeping my garden hose outdoors in the hideaway this winter, after draining it. The hideaway comes with about a 6' hose that attaches to your faucet and the hideaway itself. Your garden hose is attached to an out-tube within the hideaway. The handle is easy to turn. There is a place where you can put your foot to keep the hideaway from moving when you are rolling your hose back into the hideaway. I would recommend that the first time you roll your hose around the reel, that you do it in a spiral pattern and not just any way that the hose wants to go. This will make subsequent unrolls and rolls to be more easily done. The only con that I have found is that this model does not have a way to anchor it to the ground. I have my hideaway on a concrete surface. If additional hose is needed, and you pull on the hose from a distance, it tends to move the hideaway and not unroll the hose. ... show more

Edit: So my original assessment without having used it much was wrong. This thing is just horrible and a waste of money. Save yourself time and a headache and just get a different better quality brand that is a little more expensive. So it really does not fit a 100 ft hose. It only fits such a hose if you spend 15 minutes neatly rolling the hose tightly around the spool guiding it with your hand. Even then it still leaves you about 10 ft that really doesn't fit because you wind it any more than that then gets stuck because of the ridges down the center inside the box. Constantly wants to skip the spool and wind itself behind the plastic guard that is supposed to prevent that, which is nearly impossible to fix without unwinding everything, which becomes next to impossible to do because of the hose off the spool locking up the spool. And after a few months am pretty sure that the handle is going to end up breaking since the spool constantly wants to jam up because of the center ridge and jumping the spool issue. Have never had one of these that was more of a pain in the you know where than this one has turned out to be. Original: So was missing 1 washer that was needed. And just barely gets a 100ft hose to fit with no room to spare. Which means if you wind it up just slightly off the top pops up. But for the price is decent and seems fairly sturdy. ... show more

The hose reel is functional, but not very sturdy when free-standing. It comes with a pretty long supply hose (maybe 6 feet long). It's very light and does require some kind of anchoring to the ground, or maybe to a patio block. For now, I have mine setting on a patio block and that keeps it somewhat steady as you unreel some hose. There are times when I need to unreel almost all 100 feet of the hose when I'm doing pressure washing of the sidewalk 75 feet away in my front yard. In that case the whole hose reel can be lifted up and pulled away from the wall, turned 90 degrees, turned on it's back with the cover flat on the ground, and then I can pull the hose straight out from it without it flopping over. So it does the job I bought it for, but because it has no bottom, it makes it hard to mount it to anything to anchor it down. ... show more
