Well made. Looks great and it's easy to use. Get this to keep your hose tidy and ready for use. The smart trak system keeps the hose wound up nicely so that when you pull it out to use, it comes out easily and without effort. Make sure you only wind and unwind when the hose is turned off to keep the wear and tear down (water is heavy). The resin material lasts a long time, even when stored in the sun. The weakest point is the handle....once again, don't reel in the hose when full....pay attention to how the hose is going into the reel to make sure it doesn't get tangled. The smart trak works well for this, but if you reel in the hose at a big angle to the trak, it can still get tangled. Use your foot as a guide when it comes in from an angle and you will save yourself a hassle and keep the hose from becoming tangled. It's well made and will last for years if you treat it well and pay attention when you are winding up the hose. It comes with the connector to your hose bib.

Excellent addition to one's garden. We use it to unwind and wind up our 100' drinking water safe garden hose. What a nice, easy and useful tool this is. Our old hose reel box had to be trashed, when the handle broke off ---- and shame on the company for no longer selling replacement parts (boo). Should have got this hose reel box ages ago. Just love it. Especially love that the top opens up. Sometimes the hose end gets sucked back into the box and being able to open the top is a must. Have to say, though: Despite the fact that this hose reel box (we got it in brown) is less than six months old, the top of it is already fading and looking kind of worn. Combination of sunlight and water, it looks like. We keep ours in full sun, but I don't remember our other hose reel boxes (also all in full sun) starting to look "old" so early on in their lives. That said, all these months later and the mechanism still rolls very smoothly and easily.

The last hose reel I owned lasted 17 years. It was a Suncast. It finally gave up the ghost after record hard freezes at record temperatures for West Texas. The water in the plastic outlet water connector on the reel froze. When it thawed, it cracked slightly. It still worked well except that the leaking became a nuisance. Since I had left that reel and its water-filled hose exposed to the heat and cold of West Texas for 365 days for each of the last 17 years, I think I got my money's worth. So I ordered this new Suncast hose reel with great confidence. I was not disappointed. I have a very heavy-duty 75' rubber hose that is pliable, but quite heavy. With a little assistance from me, this new hose reel does an admirable job. And I have no doubt that, plastic parts notwithstanding, this reel should last many years,--just like its Suncast predecessor. What some of the negative reviewers report concerning trouble winding the hose on the reel, etc. seems a bit disingenuous to me. Yard work can be HARD work. Reeling in a hose requires some intelligent choices that I'm guessing some of the reviewers neglected to do, for one reason or another. For instance, you should turn off the water at the faucet so the pressure doesn't keep the hose stiff; remove the hose sprayer so it doesn't add unnecessary drag or catch on grass runners or other objects in the yard; position the hose in a more or less 90-degree angle out from the storage box; and use your left hand to help guide the hose as the smart track guide slides along its track. Yes, it takes a bit of effort, but, as I stated: Yard work is HARD work. And I love it! Thanks, Suncast! PS When I called the Suncast 800 number, I got a perky and helpful young lady (Sandy?). Her answers to my questions and her patience were 5-STAR. Since my 17-year-old hose reel was out of warranty (lol), she tried to find a replacement connector part for me. Alas, that particular reel and the needed part is no longer available. Otherwise, she was going to send me one! Ya gotta love customer service like that!

In short, buy something else. A month after my purchase, I thought this reel was so wonderful that I bought a second one. However, the reel did not last one year, despite below average use. It was still under “warranty“ when one of the internal parts broke, and to Suncast’s credit, they quickly sent me replacement parts and some instructions for repair. Being a very handy person I figured I would take care of this no problem. Boy was I wrong. Long story short, it is very clear this product is not designed to be repaired. The written instructions provided for disassembly were useless. I then found an official video put out by Suncast on how to disassemble the reel (which offers much more detailed instructions than what was provided on paper). The comments on that video confirm my own observations, which is that because the parts are made entirely of plastic and there is no a bolt or screw to be found, disassembly without damaging the reel is impossible. I managed to disassemble the reel without breaking anything, but because the parts are plastic, they bent and simply cannot be reconnected properly. So in summary, the reel broke quickly for no apparent reason. While Suncast honors their warranty by sending replacement parts, they clearly know repairs are nearly impossible. Do not give this company your money and shame on them for putting out such a shoddy product.

I specifically purchased the Suncast hose-roller/reel with the intent to us it with the 'Pocket Hose'. My Pocket Hose is a 100' version, with 3/4" diameter when pressurized. After use, I have zero doubts that the Suncast will work with all versions/lengths of the Pocket Hose. ● Does the Pocket Hose work with the Suncast Hose Reel with Smart Trak? Yes! (with caveats). ● Am I happy with and keeping the Suncast Hose Reel? Yes! ● Is the Suncast perfect? No. But with only minor complaints, which have nothing to do with the 'Pocket Hose': (scroll near the bottom for 'Pocket Hose' caveats) (THE GOOD): The Suncast Hose Reel does it's job very well! The hand-crank works well, and seems to have sturdy construction. The Smart-Trak system works as it's supposed to, winding the hose back and forth across the reel, until completely wound up. Something I will caution is making sure the Smart-Trak is all the way to the left-hand side of the reel (the side that has the internal hose connection) so that the winding process starts where the hose connection starts. My Smart track was a few inches to the right of the hose connection side, when I connected my hose, which caused winding issues with the hose. This was entirely my fault for not paying attention to this when I connected the hose. What can I say? I couldn't wait to get this baby into operation! Once I unwound and disconnected the internal hose connection, repositioned the Smart-Trak all the way to the hose-connection side and reconnected the hose, it was smooth sailing from there. The Suncast comes with a short, 4 foot (approximate) faucet extension, connecting your house-faucet to the Suncast. I used plumbers thread-tape on all hose connections, which worked well. The Suncast has two holes at the back of the reel, which are intended to be used with the included grass-stakes. The stakes allow you to anchor the reel to your lawn, if you're going to be walking in various directions around the reel, and want it to stay in place. The Suncast has a lid that opens at the top/front allowing you to monitor the hose winding process, and make corrections to the hose, if needed. (THE BAD?): None really to speak of. Only a minor irritation in setup, which could be my fault: When connecting the Suncast to your hose faucet via the 4' extension hose, the hose connection on the exterior of the Suncast doesn't appear to have a way to spin the connection to tighten the hose to the Suncast. I looked and looked, to no avail. Ultimately, after I applied the thread-tape, I wound up having to spin the entire 4' connection hose in order to get the hose properly tightened and sealed to the Suncast. Trust me, this is not how I wanted to accomplish this step! (Pocket Hose Caveats): Per the physics of the standard operation of the Pocket Hose (expansion and contraction) this is naturally going to change the diameter of the entire hose when pressurized vs unpressurized, on the reel. The solution: wind the Pocket Hose while unpressurized, gently (not tightly wound). I found that giving the hose a little slack throughout the winding process, worked fine. (See photos for an idea of what it looks like pressurized vs not). When you're ready to use the Pocket Hose, pull the length of hose you're going to use, BEFORE pressurizing. When finished, allow the hose to entirely depressurize BEFORE winding up.

Very nice hose real, I needed something to replace my old metal cart which started leaking the following year after I got it but I needed something that could accommodate 200 foot oh garden hose. I know they advertise this as 150 foot but it held all of my hose with no problem. It was very easy to use and the operation was very smooth and with the gear drive hose winder hose retraction was a breeze. I just received this product so longevity I cannot speak for, but I did like the fact that they put the 90° connector inside the hose reel so that you did not have to feed the hose through the reel where you could possibly kink the way my old one did. So far, I am extremely happy with the overall look and operation. I just hope this thing will last me quite a few seasons.

It pretty much does what it says it will but there's a few issues with that. First there's no instructions included. You have to download them via a qr code on the sticker on the front of the item. I'm not going to do that, and neither is my girlfriend whom I have to teach how to use this. While it's not complicated to set up or anything this trend is annoying and must be stopped. Also there is a disengage knob on the reel guide and I do not know if I am supposed to use that when unraveling the hose or not BECAUSE YOU DIDNT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS. Its a small piece of paper that's smaller than the sticker you slapped on the front of the thing. You could have just thrown it in the bag that you included the 2 (not very long and not very helpful) stakes in and been done but nooooo "we have to save paper to save the environment" or whatever your lame excuse is...forgetting that you shipped a HUGE PLASTIC box in a HUGE CARDBOARD box... The extra sheet of 8.5x11 aint gonna be the thing that turns the tide in the war against the rising co2 levels bub. Put the instructions in the box. Second the hose to attach to it is a male/female hose not a female/female hose. Dont get me wrong it connects just fine but the male end that goes into the box is hard to install because the male end doesnt twist and neither does the female end of the box ... at least I couldnt figure out how to get it to do so with the vague "instructions" on the side. So I had to spin the hose to install it on the box first then put it on the hose bib second. The reason that's an issue is as stated before the inability to attach the hose to the box easily. The smaller models they sell arent this way but they also dont include the self aligning guide either. The smaller boxes include a male end and a female/female hose so you can attach it easily. Why would you change this? Its not like finding a female/female hose is even hard. You can get one on amazon for like $6 for a 3 footer. The included hose also feels cheap and flimsy and not very heavy duty but hey its only gotta carry water from the bib to the box. I just worry about it breaking down in the sun after a year or two. The last issue is that without holding tension on the hose as you reel it in the hose will not lay all nice and perfectly aligned like you would expect. The instant you release the back pressure you are putting on the hose while its feeding through your hand to say fight with a kink or twist the last couple of loops on the spool will skip and be out of order and mess up the nice loops you had going. Which sort of defeats the purpose of the little guide thing now doesnt it?
