Description

Adding a SubstrateSource Amazon Sword (Echinodorus bleheri) to your freshwater aquarium helps create a natural look for your tank. This plant is known for it's bright green color and bold appearance. As it grows, this plant helps purify your water by absorbing nitrate nutrients. This plant can be grown with moderate light fully submersed under water. We like to position our Amazon Swords towards the back of the aquarium where they can take advantage of deeper substrate and grow out to their full potential as a background plant. Potted plants are grown in 2-inch slotted or mesh plastic pots. The pots are made out of recycled plastic. Potted plants are grown without soil in rockwool media. The rockwool media allows the plants to grow in a clean, soil-free environment, ready to ship. To prepare your plant for the aquarium, first gently remove the pot. Unfortunately, I ordered this during a heatwave. When the plants arrived, they were cooked. My mail carrier stuffed the priority box in my mailbox, so it roasted in a metal container all day. I could tell the plants we're healthy before shipping though. Unfortunately when I poured cold water on them, they're actually steamed and smelled like rotten vegetables. Arrived with a couple leaves broken, but that's what the seller described. All but 2 leaves were nice and green. Stems were nice and strong. The roots weren't frustratingly intertwined in the cloth weights. And most importantly, my angels seem to be enjoying them.

The colors were a little light greenish. But maybe with time they will get more green. The condition was really good, many leaves and good bouquet of them. So happy with my purchase that I feel obliged to leave a review here. I actually first bought this species 2 years ago from Substrate Source. I remember being pretty happy when I first received it since it was one of the largest plant I was able to find (bought a few Amazon from various vendors and they're all small in comparison). I put them in my goldfish/first year Koi tank with saw them suffered untold abused, but the lived and thrived. A year later I moved them into my Ciclid tank, which was supposed to be better, but the pleco in that tank also abuse the Sword on regular basic. After 2 year, they're still alive. (The anubis I bought from them at the same time are also still alive, and grew back after the Koi eat all but one single leaf was left) So when I was redoing my goldfish tank I bought 2 more from Substratesource. Happy to say the tree I received are still as good as I remember them, put them in my take with Seachem rootab + excel. I was thinking the plant gonna need some aclimating period first, but to my suprise after just 1 (one) week, one of the branch already grow out of the water surface. The plants are thriving even though they're in a cold water tank with sand substrate. Don't think I can be any happier with this vendor. In fact, I think the only way to be more happy is if I had get it for free! Planing to redo my 200g this summer and I'll definitely hit them up with some more business. In fact, I'm a bit sad to see they don't stock some of the plants I'm planning to have. ... show more
