I'm not certain what the actual foam compound is, but there is one thing you can accept right now. The mattress topper is going to off-gas for at least 4-7 days. The first night I slept on it I had to spray the topper with men's cologn just to make it tolerable. The gas being emitted is very strong, especially on the first several nights. It might not be acceptable to some of you who are sensitive to smells. It's a very chemical smell. My best suggestion is to unwrap the topper and then put it aside for a week or so without actually sleeping on it. Once most of the odor has disapated then put it on your bed. I'm 170 lbs and I can testify that 2 inches of topper is enough to make a nice difference in sleep comfort. The reason I didn't go with a 3 inch topper was because the overall thickness once it's on the bed. Even this 2 incher makes it difficult to slip the fitted sheet over all the corners. Anyway, I'm keeping it and now that it no longer stinks I'm pretty satisfied. I nicked it a star for the smell and inconvenience it caused.

The first tooper I received was horrible!! It was torn and never expanded fully. The edges remained smashed and hard, the corner was missing. I was afraid I would be stuck with it since the return policy said it would need to be returned in the original packaging, which wouldn't be possible. I emailed the company and received a fairly promot response. I sent pictures of the topper and was sent out a new topper that expanded perfectly in minutes. Unfortunately, I needed the topper for a guest bed before the holidays and the replacement topper didn't arrive until after the holidays. But at least I have it for the next guests.

I bought this to top an air mattress for our holiday guests. I let it sit flat for 5 days before using it and has been 8 days since it was out onto the mattress. As you can see in the pictures, the ends of the topper never expanded. I will say that for our setup it was an issue we could work around because it was at the head and foot of the bed. With all that said, the topper did it’s job and felt good. Just be warned that this may happen.

I have suffered from lower back pain for quite some time and have been searching for the perfect sleep aid. This item definitely is worth the buy and I only got the 2in foam topper I could only imagine the comfort if I got the 3in or more. I will definitely be buying again in the future. Late to the party!

Worked for what I needed it for. Sent to my daughter's home as I need extra cushion on her spare bedroom's mattress. Does retain more heat than had hoped, but as I only stay a week at a time, worked good.

We have an IKEA convertible couch but the mattress is too hard for our overnight guests. You do have to wrestle this topper to fold up for storage then find something to bind it then stick it in a corner of your closet. HOWEVER, voila! This fits into the clever compartment inside the couch when folded back up. We cut it to fit the queen sleeper. We top it with a breathable mattress cover. It all fits perfectly. Our guests have no complaints.
