My Favorite Beans for French Press

This has become my favorite coffee to use in a French press. I really like the flavor of the Founder’s Blend, especially when it’s prepared a little more deliberately than just throwing grounds and boiling water together and hoping for the best. Here's my secret recipe: grind the beans coarsely, use alkaline water to help mellow some of coffee’s natural acidity, and brew with water at about 190°F for five minutes in the French press. The result is consistently my favorite cup of coffee: smooth, flavorful, and very easy to drink without tasting harsh or overly acidic. If you enjoy lighter roasts and use a French press, this is definitely one I’d recommend experimenting with.

First this coffee that arrived today is best consumed by the middle of next month and was roasted last October, but if freshness is paramount, you probably aren't buying coffee from Amazon anyways. The supposed hints of chocolate and vanilla are non existent and it is mildly bitter. I didn't like it initially, but it is starting to grow on me. The beans are not oily so it works well in my Jura auto-feed brewer. I am a huge fan of dark roast but this tastes clean and its a nice change of pace.

Overpriced Folgers in a small bag.

Dry. Stale. Bitter. I know good coffee. I'm a coffee enthusiast. I remember this coffee froma friend who drank it and man, it was delivious. I purchased the Founders, Hundred Mile and Holler Mountain whole bean as I grind mine daily. First thing, wow they think a lot of these beans. Pretty pricey. The Holler Mountain didn't disappoint. The Founders and Hundred Mile were huge let downs. The roast looked even. The beans were extremely dry and no hint of oil existed. The smell was stale. The beans were flaky and statically charged during to the dryness. I suspect they were roasted a while ago and allowed to dry out. Drinking was not pleasurable, the taste was bitter. There was very low acidity, mainly from absence of flavorful oils. This coffee was basically Folgers packaged in a high price bag. I'll sip my Lavazza Super Crema and keep searching for that perfect bean. Your experience may be sdifferent. Happy brewing.

I recently had the chance to experience the Stumptown Coffee Roasters' Founder's Blend, and I'd like to share my thoughts on this medium roast organic whole bean coffee. The organic aspect of this coffee is definitely a strong point. It's great to see a brand taking sustainability seriously and offering an organic option for coffee lovers. The medium roast level is where I usually find my sweet spot, and the Founder's Blend delivers on that front. It's a smooth and balanced cup of coffee that doesn't overwhelm the taste buds. If you prefer a milder flavor profile, this could be a good choice for you. However, when it comes to the taste experience, I found myself wanting a bit more depth. While the coffee is enjoyable, it lacks the complexity and boldness I often seek in a cup of coffee. It's a bit on the safe side in terms of flavor. In terms of packaging, the 12-ounce bag is a practical size, and it does a decent job of preserving the freshness of the beans. My only gripe here is that I've noticed some inconsistency in the freshness of different batches. Some bags seem to lose their vibrancy sooner than expected.
