  • Multiple items fail to work upon unpack
*** edited *** They replaced the non working items quickly and without hassle. I've updated my original 1-star review as a result. The system still isn't very "high" quality, but I knew that when I bought it (you can't really expect high end at this price). I just wanted everything to work at least, and I was pleased that they made it easy to get replacements quickly, and they followed up. ------- ***Original**"" First of all, 7 out of the 12 light bulbs provided don't work, which required me to go buy $50 worth of new light bulbs. Secondly and even more importantly, one of the lamp holders doesn't work properly. One bulb connection won't work at all, and the other I can kind of get working but it goes in and out. Other than that, it does work as expected. Yes, it's very lightweight and flimsy. The components that hold the boom arm are plastic and will probably break easily if you're not careful. Also, the plastic pivot points to aim the lights are also plastic and difficult to ratchet into position. Itv requires some push to move them, which given that they are plastic, will likely cause breakage down the road. That all being said, I realized that this wasn't going to be a great long-term product when I bought. However, I do expect everyone to be functional upon arrival at the bare minimum. Do, I will contact seller about lamp head and lights and see if they will honor replacing those. If they don't, steer clear of this. It's one thing knowing you're buying some cheap garbage that won't last part it's warranty. It's another thing when it doesn't work from day one. ... show more

  • Is it worth it
Key points: Great brightness and can handle brighter bulbs. Brighter than the LED 150w tri color temp bulb also sold on Amazon. Low quality stands, boom especially. They will certainly hold up for a little while but I can already tell after repeat usage that the plastic parts need to be inspected and retightened occasionally or you will have a problem. Indoor use should have very little issue, just be careful when going high. You can use the stands for outdoor but you definitely need a good weight/sandbag and even then not the most stable base. The blue sandbag is good, zipper quality basic but stitching and material will hold up a while. For light items the boom will do well but the stress on the bargain quality rods when going high is not ideal, especially if you want equipment that is sturdy and stable around clients. The lightbulbs are bright but I still need to test this with some 95 cri LEDs to compare for color tone on skin Would I buy it again? If I was limited on funds and needed a bargain home studio 3 light set up? Absolutely. If you have funds don't start here just start higher. Especially if you know you will continue photography and wants to do outdoor portrait with flash ... show more

  • Very good value and excellent seller customer service from Kaezi.
For a hobbyist, small on-line retailer or casual portrait photographer, the kit is an excellent value. A true professional, portable, 3 point setup could easily cost 10x more to improve light control, power and durability. But, I'm using mine almost exclusively as a stationary setup for occasionally photographing items for sale. I thought the stands were fine. They're light but are designed to be portable and stable. I would not extend the stands fully as the base shrinks proportionately. Boom stand distance I left at almost 3 ft between leg tips and standing light leg spreads were about 1.5 ft. I weighted all legs. The lights don't sag when the boom is extended, though I'd imagine they could slightly at some angles. I also retract the boom and maneuver the socket head closer to the stand when not used, just to prevent an accident. The lights are sufficiently powerful. Some people mentioned weak output. I can't speak for videographers, but for photographers, these lights are fine. And if light output is an issue, there are myriad ways to fix that problem for a photographer short of buying bigger lights. A couple of issues. The instructions are not particularly clear when assembling the light box. Though the assembling of the stand is largely intuitive, the installation of the hood is a little tricky and the directions are confusing. Initially it took about an hour to assemble the entire kit though I'd imagine I can cut that time in half. A couple of first time assembly puzzles included locating pockets for the stays at the edge of the Velcro box corners. There's also a "plain " end of the hood stay that inserts into the back of the socket head, but the inset photo in the instructions illustrates the other, "stepped" insert instead. That stepped insert pictured actually fits underneath the Velcroed box corner. Though assembling the lights the second time would be pretty easy, but if I would transport the lights now I'd probably try to keep the hoods and sockets intact and just collapse the stands. Without fiddling with the hoods, I could set up or break down in about 15 minutes and spend more time positioning lights. My only other complaint is modest. A hem should be used inside the carrying bag lid to minimize fraying. I had to snip a lot of strings. Otherwise, the bag is pretty well constructed, is lightly padded and could easily hold the entire kit. When I received my kit one of the sockets would not light. After some frustration with Amazon's return policy and a little fruitless troubleshooting, I contacted the seller directly using info they included in the box. After a couple of quick e-mails and a small adjustment suggested by Alvin from Kaezi (a 1/16" to 1/8" pull on a bent contact), I was in business. So good on them for understanding and helping me quickly resolve the problem. I'd suggest that contact adjustment for people having trouble with their sockets, before they gave up on their lights, but don't make any adjustments until you unplug the light socket. :) ... show more
