  • Excellent quality bunkbed at an amazingly low price! So happy with this purchase!
Color: White/Natural
I'm so impressed! The quality and value of this bunk bed is astonishingly good, exceeding all my expectations. I love it, and I'm not easy to please. The shipment arrived promptly but I had concerns when the two boxes arrived with some damage to the outside, fortunately all the contents were intact. I was immediately surprised at the quality of the solid wood parts, the well labelled and packaged hardware with clear instructions, and - WOW - another packet containing one extra item of every piece of hardware included!! Extra screws, bolts, connectors, dowels, etc. just in case anything was lost or missing - to me that shows a company that cares about customer satisfaction! (I will also note there was NOTHING missing so now I have spares in case I want to disassemble/reassemble the bunks). Regarding assembly, another major indicator of quality is the precision of all the pre-drilled holes and threading on the screws, bolts and connectors - everything fit together perfectly and easily, there was no struggling to make it work. I've put together a lot of furniture over the years, and this bunk was shockingly simple and easy to assemble by myself (I'm a female senior citizen), I only had help at the very end to lift the completed top bunk onto the completed bottom bunk - they're solid wood after all! The only extra thing I did was to put some grippy non-skid adhesive strips on each step of the ladder to make it less slippery for someone climbing up in socks. The finished bunk bed is solidly built, no squeaks or wobbles - I will trust it with my grandchildren! - and very attractive. Exactly as pictured. No, I'm not being paid for this review, I honestly just want to give credit to the manufacturer Storkcraft for an amazingly good product at a very attractive price. I bought this based on good reviews and the fact that this model, the Caribou, was mentioned favorably in some major magazines' comparisons of bunkbeds. They're right! Thank you! Assembly note: The bunks come with an Allan key (hex wrench) along with all the hardware. In addition to this, itโ€™s helpful to have a power screwdriver (to screw in the mattress slats) and a rubber mallet (to install the wooden dowels). That's it. Assembly took me several hours, but it's straightforward. ... show more

  • Sturdy and well made
Color: Navy
Great bunk beds for the price! Very sturdy and fairly easy to assemble. It took about 2.5 hours to assemble; lots of screws, which make it sturdy. One note: the screws are metric, fortunately we had the correct screw gun. My husband kept asking โ€œhow much did you pay? Wow!โ€

  • Great, long-lasting
Color: Espresso
Bought this bed for my sons almost 6 years ago. We started out using one of the bunks as a single bed for my oldest because my youngest wasn't ready to move out of his toddler bed yet. A year or two later, we added the second bunk. It's been fully assembled as a bunk bed since then, and it has held up wonderfully. I'm very glad that there are rails on the top bunk, because my kids toss and turn a lot. The ladder has held up well, as have the bed frames. The wood also looks great, except for the spot where the safety sticker was. It didn't come off easily or evenly, but I wouldn't deduct from my rating for that because this is a very sturdy bed at a great price. Note: I ordered the bed with the slanted ladder, not the straight/vertical one, but for some reason I'm not able to review that option. ... show more

  • Nice bunk bed ,but little issues Nice bunk bed ,but little issues
Color: Grey
We bought two sets of these bunk beds for our kids.this is our first time to purchase the bunk bed online,so we did lots of research since it is difficult to return these heavy items.we read lots of the products descriptions and reviews,we carefully compared the materials, dimensions, weight limits and color of the product to ensure it met our expectations.finally we decided to take this one. Material:this bunk bed is made of the rubber wood which is more durable than the pine wood ,they are usually used to make the furniture and the price is more affordable. Dimensions: the height is 64.7โ€™,so between the upper bed and bottom bed has enough space for kids ,when they sat on the buttom bed ,they wonโ€™t hit their head.(we use 5โ€ memory mattress). Weight limits: the weight limit is 225 pounds for EACH bed,I tried to lay on and sit on the upper bed,it can easily hold my weight,I am 165 pounds, and this bed can be separated to two beds, when my children grow up,we can separate it for them, but not sure if it can last that long, haha. Color:we chose gray color, this color is perfect ,my kids like it and it fits their bedroomโ€™s floor very well. My only complaint is the slats of the bed, that are made of laminated veneer lumber which is not durable enough, when we received them ,some of the slats had been broken,so we need to add some plywood slats between them to make the bed more stable, and it is a bit difficult to put them together,it took us about 4 hours, anyway finally we made it properly ,it cost us only $200,so we canโ€™t complain more at this price. We have them about two months, our kids like their new bed,it has few issues, but it roughly met our expectations,it is still a good deal if you have limited budget. ... show more

  • Great bunk bed!
Color: White
Best bunk bed I've ever assembled. For the price the quality is absolutely there. The dowels for the bunk connections were hollow metal pins - not wood, which added to the overall quality in my opinion. Assembly went as you'd expect, easy to understand instructions, with a final overall good product! ... show more

  • Pleased with the end result, but not necessarily the shipper...
Color: Grey
I purchased this bed with great hesitancy after reading several reviews on Amazon, Walmart, and other stores that sell these. First, they are priced way higher at Toys-R-Us, and about the same at Walmart. I got these for my 5 year old twin boys. I looked at a lot of different beds, but really wanted this one because of it's size and price. My sons' room has an unavoidable drop in the ceiling down to 7 feet - there is nowhere to place a bunk bed without the ceiling drop being involved somehow. This was the only one I think I could find that was 60inches - which is also good, because I am 62 inches, and I can decorate the bed more easily. I also purchased the Amazon recommended mattresses with this bed (Signature Sleep Essentials 8inch and 6inch). I decided I was going to completely re-do my sons' bedroom for their new 'big boy' room. I was so excited! I ordered the bunk bed on Friday January 30, 2015. I am a Prime member, and I know that the bed can take an extra few days for processing. I was patient. On February 2, I received an email saying the package had shipped, and would arrive by Friday February 6. Yay! I went and got all their new bedding, paint, wall decorations, some additional furniture pieces, and made arrangements for them to go to Grandma and Grandpa's on Friday the 6th for the weekend. I usually work Sundays, and I took the day off of work so I could have everything completed and ready for when my sons' got home Sunday night. I checked with Amazon throughout the week to make sure the bed was still arriving on Friday... according to Amazon, it was. The bedding arrived earlier in the week, the sheets, and the mattresses arrived on time too. Friday afternoon comes and I check Amazon - still on time for Friday delivery by 8pm. I check UPS, and there is no updated status other than 'in transit'. I check back with UPS around 4pm, and it says 'arrived at destination facility - out for delivery Monday February 9. Super irritated, I called UPS and said WTF. Can I come pick this up (UPS is 2 miles from my house). UPS says 'no, you can not pick up a package before it's scheduled delivery date'. I say ' It was suppose to be delivered today', they say 'Shipper did not give it to us until February 4'. I try to arrange for a Saturday delivery - not an option. Thoroughly frustrated, I used my unexpected free-time to go out and drink wine with my friends. I spent the entire day Saturday painting, and instead of setting up bunk beds in between coats of paint, I took a nap, shopped, and sulked about the fact that my surprise for my sons was ruined by UPS - or Storkcraft - or really, both. Sunday I put their room back together, set up their new mattresses on the floor with their new Spiderman and Batman sheets, comforters, and new pillows. I tentatively placed their furniture back in their room, and hung up their wall decorations because I really was not sure where the bed was going to go/fit best. I just needed to convince my kids that sleeping on the floor was fun. The boys came home, they looked at the new paint job, liked the wall decorations, and loved the fact they could very easily jump on their new mattresses on the floor. They had all the bedding off in seconds, and had a fort built out of the mattresses within minutes. Boys. They did not like their mattresses on the floor, and ended up crawling in bed with me in the middle of the night. Two 5-year olds and an adult sharing a queen is not recommended... I ended up taking Monday off of work so I could get the beds set up before Monday night - I did not want to spend another night trying to keep the boys in their beds on the floor. I read the reviews for this bed that said it took 5-6 hours to set up the beds, and that had me concerned. The beds arrived at 2pm, and I had a 530pm event to attend. Fortunately, my Dad was my babysitter for the evening. Dad came over, and took charge. I basically watched him set up the beds. The pieces arrived in good shape, but they are poorly labeled. The pieces are pretty obvious as to what purpose they serve, but having some instruction to help figure out the directionality of the pieces would be helpful for quicker set-up. My Dad had the first bed set up quickly, but we had issues with the top bunk. One of the pre-drilled holes in the frame was off, and it did not line up. We spent probably an hour trying different ways of getting the long screw in the hole, trying to line up with the little piece that it is supposed to connect with. He tried, I tried, but eventually we just had to alter the existing hole enough to make it work. I left for my event, and enjoyed more wine while I hoped that I would not be spending another night sleeping with two sweaty 5-year-olds. I return home, the beds are done, and decorated (thanks, Mom), and the boys love them. I love them. They fit great in their room, and seem sturdy. Other commenters have mentioned a chemical smell, but all I smell is painted wood/new furniture smell. Nothing overpowering or irritating - and I have a very sensitive nose. I think I may purchase some reinforcing connectors for where the two beds connect with each other. As of now, the top bunk sits on the bottom bunk with a long pin holding them together - the top bunk lifts off real easily. My concern is a rambunctious 5 year old kicking the top bunk from the bottom bunk to irritate his brother, and lifting the bed off the pin and having it crash down on the bottom bunk. Fortunately the top bunk is heavy, and his legs are too short right now to be able to do that, but if these beds last a few years it could be a possibility. Other reviews have mentioned slats breaking, and I will keep my eye out for that possibility. They seem sturdy though. There is not a lot of clearance between the bunks, but that should be expected when it is only 5 feet tall. There is enough room for them to sit up, and I can sit on the mattress and lean in for a hug and kiss. I have been on the top bunk, and I did not feel like the bed was going to break. I have been up there with a child, and the combined weight would be 160lbs, and it seemed fine. I wouldn't make a habit out of it though.... To make a really long story short: I am happy with the purchase. The boys love the bed, and I like it too. It fits good in their little room, and looks nice. The shipping drama was a pain that would have been fine if the expected delivery date would have been ACCURATE! I would have gladly waited until the following weekend to follow through with my plans. I wasted a lot of time off work for nothing - It is a good thing that the beds arrived in good shape, and that I like them, because it eases the pain from the shipping fiasco. If my review has not been updated, you can assume the beds are still in good shape, and not broken. I will definitely update if they start falling apart. ... show more

  • Worth the $$
Color: Espresso
For the quality and craftsmanship, the price was worth it. It looks great. My nephew loved it. I would recommend it to a friend. Build Time: approximately 3 hours with two people. Tools Required: phillips screwdriver and an allen wrench. The allen wrench is provided, but it is slow and hard to use on some pieces. If you have an adjustable electric driver and some allen bits, you could probably reduce the build time to 2 or even 1.5 hours. Pros - [1] - Includes allen key [2] - Fairly easy to build with decent instructions [3] - Sturdy with good quality materials [4] - The wood stain was evenly spread, it covered the boards on all visible edges and I didn't notice any globs or thin spots. Better then more expensive furniture I have bought in the past. [5] - There are a decent number of slats, they are strapped together, and you screw them into the base. As long as your kid isn't using the bed as a trampoline, you probably don't need a base board. Please judge this based on your own kids rambunctiousness. I would also consider weight factor, a base board might be a good idea if multiple kids will be sleeping on the same bed. Cons - [1] - Absolutely no extra screws / bolts / nuts / etc. If you lose a piece, well... oops! [2] - There were minor scrapes and blemishes through the stain, that were poorly covered up, but mostly in low visibility areas. [3] - There is no way to put the ladder on the other side of the bed, so be sure to check that it will fit in the room you want it in. [4] - The vertical cross-members on the top bedrails are screwed in, the placement on the boards were marked by tape, but we didn't realize why it was there, so it got peeled off prior to putting those pieces together. If this happens to you, there are tiny little holes where you are supposed to start the screws. In my opinion this was the hardest part of putting the bed together, as we put two of the three boards upside down at first. A simple, "this side up" sticker, would've been nice. [5] - Some of the holes had some leftover sawdust or putty left in them. This prevented some bolts from threading until we noticed the foreign substance blocking the threads. We quickly picked up on this and made sure to clear the holes with the bolt, prior to putting the pieces together. ... show more

  • Awesome bunks!!! Love them.
Color: Grey
Our youngest has been wanting a bunk bed for ages but we didnโ€™t like how flimsy so many of them are. These bunks are great! Good and stout for the most part, but we will be adding some stability to the bases- the slats are pretty springy and it geeks our oldest child out a little to see them bend a little when someone is on the top bunk. I love how the bed can come apart and be used as separate twin beds. The style is simple, yet attractive. The railing on the top bunk was a little awkward to assemble but we got it in the end. Most bunk beds these days have to be bolted to a wall to give them some stability- these donโ€™t! Absolutely love them! We have 8โ€™ ceilings in the cabin and these beds fit nicely in the space. The grey color is a very nice shade. The paint also distresses nicely. So much so that I will be scuffing the edges a bit because I like the look so much. We ended up with some shipping issues at first- the bed comes in two boxes but one was lost in shipping- but Amazon got onto it right away and shipped us a whole new set. It came fast and the Amazon truck delivered the packages to our front door which is especially impressive to me because we live out in the boonies and neither ups nor fedex delivers to our door. UPS hardly ever delivers anything around here. I hope to see the Amazon trucks doing deliveries more often. They had the best service! Overall, the beds and delivery service were fantastic and I will definitely be buying another set of these bunks for the bunk room. ... show more
