  • Nothing Beats a Stihl
I put my chainsaw to work and this product holds up. Wear some leather work gloves when dealing with the chain. Chain is super sharp. There's no point trying to resharpen chains in my opinion. Don't throw them out because you can use the materials for other projects-- see YouTube. PROTIP: Flip the bar each time you change the chain to get equal wear. Therefore, the first time you flip it the Stihl logo should read upside down on the bar. WON'T CUT? Then you probably have the chain on in the wrong direction. See the image and note that the bar is upside down (Still logo is upside down for even wear). As you can see the metal on the teeth should be pointed toward the bar tip. You can verify this by noting the pointing parts will be pointed toward the tip to catch the wood. SELECTING: When selecting a chain you can buy any brand you want. Just make it matches the Pitch, Gauge, and drive links of you saw. All 3 attributes must match. SHARPEN? If you stop using a chain just before it's dull you could possibly sharpen. But for safety sake I don't bother. Just in case something was weakened. And it's near impossible to sharpen a fully dulled chain since the metal gets rounded much like Lake Erie glass (broken bottles now smooth looking rocks). REMOVE STUMPS: If your chain is old and almost dull and you need to remove a stump. A lot of "ifs" I know. You can plunge it into the dirt (that immediately increases dulling) around a stump to get the feed roots cut for an easier lift removal. It's surprising how well this works. But the chain will be toast and you'll need to clean out the saw. REMOVE LINKS: Some use a chain breaker to remove links. Personally the risk of a whipping chain isn't worth it to save a few bucks. END OF SEASON: Run the engine dry until it's empty to prevent clogging in carburetor and extend the life of your saw. HAUNTED HOUSE: Take off the chain and you can use your chainsaw as a haunted house safe scary weapon. SAFETY: Check Youtube and your manual. Most accidents are head and between the legs. Don't use with the saw between your legs. Always on the side of you. Don't use over your head. Don't hit the dirt or near rocks. The problem is if it kicks up it hits your head or groin. Kicking up or down happens, so be aware of it. OTHER STUFF TO GET The Still helmet with kevlar mask and ear protection is something I use and I think is a necessity. Falling wood and shooting wood bits in your eyes are risks. With the kevlar shield I don't need to wear safety glasses. Chainsaw bibs are also useful protecting legs. And a Stihl case is the best way to store your saw. Just make sure you get the right size. Hope this was helpful! ... show more

  • Quality
Fits well, cuts well, and sharpens well. This chain holds its edge longer than other brands and seems to take a new edge easily and last longer, too.

  • Quality STIHL chains
Functions as well as other new chains I have purchased.

  • Chain ok, three things
I purchased two of these. Packaging: Unlike the product photo, the chains came in Stihl boxes with no printed info: the spaces for link and bar length, link count, pitch, and gage were blank. Since I have multiple saws with different chains I had to double-check these and write the info on the boxes before putting them in my chainsaw supplies box. Contrary to the product description the boxes were not factory sealed. Sharpening: Comparing left to right, the teeth were unevenly ground. Those on the right looked correct but the left were ground with an improperly dressed wheel with a flat spot instead of a proper curve. I suspect they will still cut ok and i’ll fix them the first time I sharpen but It’s sloppy compared to what I expect from Stihl. ... show more
