I’m up to about three dozen of these now. I looked and looked for an economical, yet useful shop & garage storage solution and settled on two kinds of boxes. These are my “large” option (those little 6-quart plastic “shoe box” containers from the same company are the “small”). Things I like: they are space-efficient, meaning the inside dimensions are not a lot smaller than the dimensions they take up on my shelves. A lot of other totes have wide rims and strongly tapered walls, so you get much less volume on a wall full of shelves holding them. They’ve also the right size for most of my storage. Bigger totes would get too heavy and smaller wouldn’t hold some items. For example, I have all my A/C service gear in one tote, including the vacuum pump that wouldn’t fit in a much smaller tote. The totes themselves aren’t too heavy, yet they stack securely and they’re strong enough for as much weight as I’m comfortable lifting in them. You can’t stand on them, and I’m not sure I’d want to put 30 pounds in the top box of a stack of six, but I don’t need that. One thing to be aware of is like all totes of this style, these are NOT sealed at all. If they get rained on, water will get inside. Not a problem for me, I’m just organizing items indoors. ... show more

Great for moving heavy smalls such as books and tools. But the low rating on size is what it is, small sized. Bought the large version also and loved that for larger and lighter valuable items I didn't want crushed. I would highly recommend for interstate moves and if packing a shipping container. Ok, I spent an inordinate amount of time reviewing plastic storage bins. Why? I was looking for something that wasn't huge, but also has wheels. I needed it for storing some emergency equipment and rations. I also wanted it to have wheels so that my wife can move it when she needs to. There are a number of storage bins that have wheels but a lot of them are either very large (and consequently, get very heavy very quickly) or are shockingly expensive despite the plastic they are made of. I also didn't want one with a lid that is a separate piece, I wanted one connected with hinges. I was looking for something that struck the right balance and I think this is the one. This is not a super strong rigid box. I can sit on it but the bending of the top lets me know I shouldn't. It's very lightweight when empty. I don't really abuse things so I expect it will last a long time. I purchased more expensive, rigid boxes for other purposes, I simply don't need this one to be that. Don't buy a cheap box and then write a bad review when you find out it is actually a cheap box. I wanted a cheap box. The latches seem fine, we'll see. It is not water resistant. Sure, it will keep things dry if it is in a short rain, but the top does not overhang the lower bin, they meet evenly, so water will easily seep in during a downpour. If you need a water resistant bin, this is not the one. There is a hole to place a padlock in front, but it's more to say, 'hey, don't open this' than to actually prevent it from being opened, it would be very easy to pop this apart from the back if someone was motivated. One thing I like is that the hinged lid opens completely until it touches the ground on the other side. It does not stop at 90 degrees when open. I like this because it is all too easy to snap off those lids that only open partially. A minor but good feature.
