  • razor sharp details
Style: 10x42
- razor sharp detail imaging - clear image - same quality up to the edge of the image - fast focusing - ideal weight - not too heavy - when several people use the binoculars easy individual adjustment for another person

  • Really nice binoculars
Style: 10x42
I own several pairs of high end European binos. Bought these as a "cheap pair" to leave in my truck. The glass is very good. Focus is quick, smooth and effortless. 10x42 are light enough and easy to carry even for 42s. This is my second pair of Steiners both of which have front and rear covers the easily employ. Steiner 10x42 were about 25% the cost of comparable high quality glass. Very pleased with the purchase. ... show more

  • Depends on the price...
Style: 8x42
Quirky binoculars made in Germany--probably. At the current price, only China competes and, often, wins. Some sort of plastic body, but feels solid. Well-coated lenses. Internals look clean and precise. Fast focus, not very fine focus--again, useful for tracking. IPD is narrow--which is good for many of us. Eye relief is good, but you must fold down wings of the rubber eye cups. Without eyeglasses, winged eye cups are useful. Eye cups themselves extend without detents. Diopter is on left ocular, which I like. Not locking diopter--which simplifies matters. Snap-in strap and snap-in objective covers--quirky, again. Note: the commonly found plastic cap with finger indents and coin slot cannot be unscrewed and removed, so there is no tripod adapter socket. Buy a $25 velcro strap adapter. This was done to secure collimation--a good thing. A bit on heavy side for 8x42. Useful zippered case with its own strap. Brighter than average binocular, average FOV, average CA, and reasonably sharp for the price. ... show more

  • European Quality-Great Price
Style: 15x56
I was looking for some high quality binoculars in the 15x to 18x power range. I wanted them for shooting, backyard bird watching, and general wildlife viewing. While I have no qualms with products made in Japan, the Philippines, and of course Europe, I am really getting tired of giving my money to China. It seems like the best optics are made in Europe and Japan. The more I looked, the more I was "sticker shocked," and did not think I could afford the higher quality binoculars. Then I stumbled on these Steiner HX 15x56 binoculars. While certainly not priced as low as the stuff from China, they were a lot less than the other European products. So I gave them a try. They are fantastic! I love them. Crisp, clear optics that are fairly light weight for their size. They seem to be very solid, and well made. They are also easy to focus. I have them on a Vanguard ball head tripod with the new, rock solid, Vortex Pro binocular adapter (the new Vortex Pro has a splined pin, so the binoculars don't rock back and forth like most adapters do). I did need a thin washer to use the Vortex adapter with these Steiner's. Anyway, I love the set up. These Steiner's are great. German quality optics at a great price. ... show more

  • Quality at an Affordable Price
Style: 8x42
I wanted top notch "glass" at an affordable price...Not Leica-Swarovski-or the Z Brand. Nikon HD was a consideration, but Steiner was my choice and I could not be more satisfied. No Chromatic aberration. No Linear line bending. Clear edge to edge definition. Color spectrum is neutral. Construction is apparently excellent. Their unique "click lock" strap attachment is VERY good. In an 8x42 a steady image is easy to achieve. (Almost wish I had bought the 10x42), but I'm keeping these! Returned the 8x42 Predators, due to LACK of all the above optical qualities. Of course, had to pay more, but the extra $ got me to a much higher level and did not have to spend $1200+.....BEST BANG for the $$$ After much use in the back yard & in parks around my area (NC Foothills), I am still impressed by the quality for the PRICE...Would I like Leica Noctivid's? YES, as from reviews, they are an optical rapture experience. Of course, the Swaro NL Pure is the absolute King of The Hill...BUT who in the HECK has that much disposable income for Glassing? Anyway, I am 70yrs old and my eyes are not as razor sharp, as they used to be. Living & Loving the Steiners...! ... show more
