Overall the safe seems fine and relatively sturdy, though it's hard to be sure without actually trying to drill it out. There is no fancier features like a glass relocker and I suspect drilling through the front plate is the easiest way of attacking this safe. But for my usage it's secure enough, and the right size. One thing I think anyone buying this safe should know - the paper that comes with the safe indicates that simply closing the safe and removing the key is sufficient to lock it. But that's not true, since if you don't turn the dial simply putting the key back in unlocks the safe. Which might be useful if you want fast access while you are home. The unexpected part is - if you turn the dial only slightly (say 10 numbers or so), it does not re-engage the combination lock! So if someone gets the key and then moves the dial back to the last digit of your combination, it unlocks. I was able to replicate this reliably on my safe. So when locking up make sure to give the dial a full turn to ensure the lock engages properly. All of the specifications say it has a 1/2" bolt hole for anchoring, but it actually measures about .7 inches so I think a 5/8" bolt will work better, plus fireproof caulking to fill the gap.

Good safe for the money. It's moderately secure due to the double locking mechanism-- that is, you must enter the combination AND then turn the key to retract the bolt and open the safe. Because of this, traditional safe-cracking-by-manipulation techniques are harder for a thief to perform. That's not to say an expert safe-cracker couldn't open this, but a noobie safe-cracker can't just easily apply a little bolt/fence pressure while turning the dial and pick off combination numbers by feel. Note that you CAN safe-crack the combination pretty easily if you have the key-- I tried it and even I can pick off numbers. So don't leave the key laying around. Also, don't leave the safe combination dialed and rely on only the key for security. The dimple key lock, although it looks strange, is not hard to pick. The modest security of this safe depends on both the key AND the combination being secret. I knock off a star because this thing is NOT fireproof AT ALL without proper preparation. The preparation is easy, but you have to know to do it, otherwise your documents WILL burn up in a fire. The issue is with the 1/2" diameter anchor mounting hole. Yes, there is an open 1/2" diameter hole in the bottom of this safe-- you must fill it with a proper substance or the fire-resistance rating is meaningless. Don't be fooled into thinking that if you use an anchor bolt, then the hole is "filled" with the anchor bolt. It's not-- during a fire, the wood that the bolt is mounted to will be burned, and the bolt will come loose, and fire/heat will enter the safe through the hole. You must fill the hole with a fireproof caulk such as 3M CP-25WB, and then while the caulk is still wet, you can install the anchor bolt, and then let the caulk dry around the anchor bolt, thus securing the anchor bolt (at least somewhat). The instruction page for this safe does not mention this, so I'm sure hundreds of people have this safe and don't realize that their documents will burn if there were ever a fire.

Some of the reviews described damaged safe the box it’s in had padded corners and sides that box was in a second box with padded corners with plastic covers .Needless to say even after rolling it up a flight of stairs it’s perfect ! First try the lock didn’t open second try following the instruction more carefully and correctly no problem then every time after that . Very well made ! The only thing about water proof it’s not I knew that so not an issue doesn’t apply . Would strongly recommend

Extremely well-built. Much better than some of the flimsy junk out there in the same price range. Has both a combination and key lock. The combination uses 4 numbers, so yes it can take slightly longer to open than some other safes. You have the option of just using the key once you have entered the combination. In other words, you can enter the combination once, leave it alone and just use the key if you need to get in and out of the safe quickly (for example if you are using it to house a pistol or something like it for home defense). Walls are very thick and this baby is heavy for a small safe,so watch your back as you place it where you want it!

This safe was very easy to install and is useful how compact it is. I like the security system it has, (not electronic) you're not dependent on batteries or electricity. I also like the look and the space on the inside. Thank you

Got it for our home and getting it to another room was such a struggle. Extremely heavy. In terms of how it locks and unlocks, it is amazingly securing. Requires a lock combo + key to unlock it. Includes a black tray for storing smaller items.

Pleased thus far. Seems well built. It's heavy but you should bolt it down to keep it from walking away. I've gained some peace of mind knowing my goods are locked up and it's not easy to get in there.

Fantastic safe. We have had hundreds of people use/abuse this safe over the past year and it is extremely durable. We were able to redo the code as well with no issues. It is sturdy, reliable, looks great (in my opinion), and we are very very happy with this purchase.
