You are so excited you immediately fire up your phone/TV/computer, easily connect the controller via bluetooth... STOP!!!! As soon as you get this controller go to the manufacturer's website, download the SteelSeries app and get the latest firmware. Do this BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE CONTROLLER TO ANY BLUETOOTH DEVICE! If you don't, it will BRICK and you'll have to wait for days for the battery to die. Save yourself the hassle and update the firmware first! Seems like a pain, but the controller works very well after you do the update. Don't make the same mistake as I did!!

I was really excited to get my hands on this but work allowed me minimal play time. I did get some good play time initially with it but after leaving it to charge, it no longer came on. I thought it was the charge cord but after switching between 3 cords (all of which worked with other devices after I checked my controller), I accepted it was the controller itself. Really disappointed in this purchase, thought I was getting something a bit more premium based on the price I paid I reached out to Amazon support who troubleshoot with me before elevating it to SteelSeries for a replacement. No one has reached out to me yet so I am hopeful but disenchanted.

I bought this controller for gaming on my iPad and got about two months' use out of it before the R2 trigger spring mechanism failed. When I dismantled it for repair, I was shocked at the shoddy electronics inside -- cheap components not secured, carelessly wired together, like a cheap transistor radio from the '80s. The interior of this thing radiated developing-world sweat-shop assembly by the poorest of the poor. I could not get the trigger working and other components literally fell out of their unsecured positions. THEN I got the bright idea of checking the owner reviews here on Amazon. A red flag right off the bat: 14% one-star reviews! I know from experience not to buy anything off Amazon with 8% or more one-star reviews. Reading those reviews was one horror story after another. Many electrical failures, but a lot of mechanical failures too -- components like the one that broke on me that should last for YEARS. Especially at this ridiculous $70 price. Multiple reviewers who returned theirs for replacement had the second unit fail within weeks, and in some cases the third before they gave up on this manufacturer. Probably there are not many iOS controllers on the market, and shoddy manufacturers like this one can get away with slick marketing and few competitors. From my experience, and the stories from dozens of one-star reviewers of this product, I've learned my lesson about SteelSeries: Never again will I buy a product with their name on it.

UPDATE: I contacted Steelseries to activate the warranty. Completing the steps to receive a replacement product has been ridiculously demanding. A clear attempt to dissuade customers from completing warranty claims. So far, three separate emails (and still incomplete) each with multiple actions I am required to take or, "your warranty claim will be denied." Steelseries is void of integrity. Clearly, steelseries knows the product is trash or they wouldn't need to install 50 obstacles for a warranty claim simply because they would not receive warranty claims.. I occasionally read these reviews and think, well maybe it won't happen to me. I refused to take one more step into the claim process before I updated my Amazon review. Rather than finishing the warranty claim for another junk product, I chose to file a claim on BBB. Wow, many claims with similar complaints. ORIGINAL: It was working well, connected easily to AppleTV. Then 5 weeks after purchase the joysticks became really loose and started making sounds. I am not a gamer. Literally, only playing Sneaky Sasquatch prob 3 days/week. Amazon directed me to Nimbus. The warranty coverage at Nimbus is a joke. Plan to never purchase from Steel Series again.

Right now I purchased the Nimbus+ despite all the negative reviews because you normally filter the top and bottom 5% of reviews. It feels great in my hands, even with large hands, it feels great. That being said, I CANT USE IT WITH ANY GAMES ON MY IPHONE 12 Pro MAX! The companion app is designed for the Gen 1 Nimbus, NOT the 2nd Gen Nimbus +. It connected to BT just fine, but when i go to the app on my phone, it just wont see it. I then downloaded the Steelseries Engine app and even then, the Windows app is not very user friendly. I finally found it under Engine (thats logical, just NOT at all). I did the critical update thinking ok maybe this update will allow for usability on my iphone...NOPE. It is designed just for Apple Arcade from what I can tell. I was able to add my PC games to the library in the engine app, but i really purchsed this for my Iphone games. So all that summarized: Pros: Feels great in my hands Buttons laid out intelligently Most of the complaints about buttons I believe are from First Gen Lightning Connection (cable not included btw) The Phone Mount did support my Iphone 12 Pro Max Connected via BT very easily I guess the battery life is great. I just received the device tonight so i cant really speak to that as of yet. Cons: instructions were just above useless besides button descriptions Iphone app does not support the Nimbus+ no games support unless maybe Apple Arcade ( I wouldnt know because i dont pay for that crap) basically useless as a mobile device controller
