    • Probably the easiest desk chair that I've ever assembled.

There is beauty in the simplicity of this chair. Sure, you don't have a million dials and switches on the base for fine tuning, but it hits all the basics and while I initially was taken back by the fact that it only has 3 settings for the backrest support (rigid, firm and soft), I have found that's all that I really need. I should note that mine arrived with more of the assembly done than the Steelcase videos even indicated. For instance, the armrests were already installed and I didn't have to attach the back to the base. Made me wonder if mine was a return, demo or something like that but it appears to be in like new condition. Anyway, I had it all together and adjusted to my liking in all of 5 min. which is great! I feel like this chair corrects a lot of my bad habits w/out being a nag about it. I find myself sitting with improved posture and with proper support at the three key touch points- Arms, back, butt. I would say that if there is a weak link among those three, it'd maybe be at the arms as they sort of vaguely move around laterally sometimes and I find myself sort of resetting them every so often to where I think they should be for me. They also are fairly thin and lightweight so I have some concern about durability but only time will tell there. Steelcase claims the chair can support up to 400lbs, which to me, indicates that it should hold up under the kind heavy daily use that I bought it for as an intensive home office user. Some complaints in reviews I read ahead of purchase were related to the seat cushion being too hard. I would tend to disagree there as I think it strikes a perfect balance of comfort/supportiveness. As with a bed mattress, softer isn't always better in my experience. As for the rest, it feels like an upscale economy chair rather than anything more luxurious with lots of plastic but it's all well-done. I guess for the price paid, that's fair and my wife indicated that she prefers this to any other desk chair that I've brought home thus far. I'd say that's high praise. I think that unless you are willing to go closer to a grand or more, this is a great option- Particularly if you are under 6' tall. If you are larger, you will likely want to add the optional headrest for additional support as the chair back covers me at 5'10" just barely. Otherwise, maybe steer clear of this one, but for the average size adult, it really shines. ... show more

Purchased this chair after reading some reviews. However with less than a month of use the lumbar support lost a piece and was not holding in position any longer. Contacting product support was not the most straightforward but once contacted they’ve created the case but am still pending solution from the after more than a week. Update: am updating the review as was contacted back from customer support and they have been very professional in solving the problem. Have received a replacement and after a couple months of use, has been working without major issues. The chair is not the most comfortable have used but it offers more adjustments possibilities than most of the other chairs have used. ... show more

These have been perfect for our home office so far. We sit in them for hours at a time, they have great adjustability and are very comfortable. The back lumbar support works great. The only thing that is a little annoying so far is we keep tripping on the wheels for some reason. The chair is a bit smaller than our old ones and we just need to get used to it, but other than that, they are great. Super easy to put together. It came in 3 parts, anyone could do it. 5 stars for sure. ... show more

My office has this chair--or at least something similar so I wanted to step up my home office. Chair is great, easy to assemble--though I needed a Youtube video for the last step up sliding the cushion on Only problem.....I don't think this chair is new. Box suspiciously poorly packaged. Greasy spot at bottom of gas tank. And a couple light stains on the front of the cushion. Buy this chair......but maybe buy directly from Steelcase instead of Amazon. You would hope you would get a new product when you pay $470. ... show more

I consider this my most disappointing purchase for 2023. I really don't understand all the raving reviews on here about this chair. At the end of the day, it's a nice chair... but for this price!!!! I have a chair from Staples that cost 1/3rd the cost and I consider to be the same quality and comfort level. So I really don't understand why this chair is priced so much higher. Based on the review I was expecting it to be a lot more comfortable, but the seat pad is basic and nothing special. Same for the back, the mesh is comfortable enough, but similar to my lower cost chair. The lumbar support is basic. The arms have a decent amount of adjustment to them, but nothing special. The reclining features are the biggest disappointment. They say there are three options but there is really only two: locked-straight, or free-reclining. I found the tension for the recline to be very minimal resistance, and not enough to provide enough support for anything other than fully reclined. Their third option is to recline with no-resistance, but there isn't a big difference between the two reclining options. Overall, it would be a great chair if it was a lot cheaper, but I don't see enough features, quality or comfort to justify the high price tag. I was expecting a lot more features at this price range. I've had it for a week now, and am considering returning it, just because of the high price! ======== Update: after a week of use, I returned the chair. It just was not comfortable enough or have enough features to justify the high price. ... show more
