I was looking for an alternative to C-shape clamps and grommel mounts after I bought a vintage desk that was over 5 inches thick. Tried everything and eventually realized I would have to settle for a stand alone mount like this. I tried the cheaper $40 ones on Amazon, but they were always on the verge of toppling with my two 22 inch monitors. I write about 1 review for every 100 things our family buys on Amazon and only when its a truly outstanding product. The best part of this one is that the VESA mounts slide horizontally along a track. What that means is that you don't have ugly mounting arms and stuff sticking out of the back of this stand. Where you place it, your monitors are in the same plane. This might not bother many folks, but for me it was essential because I was going for a minimalistic look. Assembly probably took me 10 minutes at best. The trick and what you're paying for is the design of the base, it's large, but thin and damn well designed. The monitors don't move an inch once they're mounted. I could shake my desk and the monitors won't topple or move just like other reviews I saw attested to and I didn't believe at first. For once, it has paid to buy a premium product over a cheaper chinese alternative that would last less time. Hope this was helpful.

First off, I bought this because of price and for use at home. For comparison, at work I have a different brand that works out to about $175 per monitor. My price on this StarTech Quad works out to about $40 per monitor. Also, one can buy something similar to this for less money but those knock-off seem to be hit and miss. Things like poor threads, parts that don't align, and poor finish. While assembling the StarTech I saw none of those types of issues. This mount has two main difference from an articulated arm design. First, this mount is shallow. If your monitors are against a wall, this mount allows you to keep the monitors on the far side of your desk. My experience with articulated arms is they take up a lot of room behind the monitors. Articulated arms against a wall force the screens about 6-8 inches closer to the user. Second, the StarTech mount does not have the range of motion of an articulated arm. The arms swing forward only about 6 inches at the ends, so depth adjustment is limited. The monitors can slide on the arm so there is good range in that sense. This mount does allow one to really lock a monitor into a location if that is what one wants or needs.

This stand is pretty well built, it feels very sturdy. I was really impressed with it over all. I had to return mine, but it was because I can't read and I needed a 27" dual mount, but this only goes up to 24". Unfortunately I was unable to find the same stand for a 27". But I don't see why it would be hard to improve this one to support 27" monitors, just extend the cross arm by about 6" and it'll fit two 27" monitors with no issues. Would love to see Starteh put out a 27" version of this stand. Imo this is one of the best dual stands on the market.

I have been using this for over a month and like it. Technically, it will support three 27", however, I would not recommend this in landscape mode. It is a tight fit and you cant angle the outside wings. I have if it configured for three 27" inch with the two outer monitors in portrait mode and middle landscape . If you want all three in landscape I would recommend 24" monitors. The base is very sturdy and I am very happy with quality of product.

Worked well accept the bolts didn’t fit my monitor. There were large gaps in between the bolt and the plate that holds the monitor and when I tried the spacers they were either too big or too small so I cut the spacers in half with a saw and it worked out fine. A lot more space on my desk.
