I wish i had purchased this year's ago when I started my sourdough. This makes scrapping and stirring in my wide mouth mason jars so much easier. Its easy to clean and light weight. It also has a protective coating to help seal the wood. I still only handwash mine due to fear of it being ruined in the dishwasher.

This was a life saver! If you do very much sourdough baking (which means stirring up a LOT of starter) then you really do want to get a Spurtle, and this one is excellent! Great value for the money. I have wrestled with rubber spatulas, knifes, spoons, even a straight piece of wood. It was so hard to get the flour out of the very bottom corners of my starter jars. I even started mixing my starter in a bowl and then moving it to my jar after mixing because I was tired of not being able to reach the corners in the bottom. This works so well, is super easy to clean and just made my sourdough life a bit easier.

It's nice and the quality is very good. Not very helpful, except when you are feeding your starter. A great mixer but not great at scrapping down the walls of your lipped jars. Would be amazing for straight mouth jars.

While it's a little harder to scrape the starter jar sides, it works extremely at introducing that starter with the flour. Very nice!

This was an impulse purchase, but as soon as I tried it out, I knew this was a gadget that I needed! I have always used a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to stir my sourdough starter, and it always left lumpy bits in the corners of the jar. The spurtle does in fact reach way into the corners so you stir up every bit. The wood has a nice smooth finish, and washes easily- just a quick rinse and done. This would be a great gift for a sourdough baker!
