This works very well to cut in butter with flour or mix up dough. Fits well in the hand, relatively easy to clean (making sure to get between the tines). The only thing that stops this from being a 5-star, for me, is that the blades (the outer two blades on either side) can bend inwards a bit during use, especially (and perhaps only, in my experience) when using it in a bowl with steeper sides. They bend back fairly easily, and it is still 100% usable, I just wish the blades were a little stronger on the outer edges. Of course, I could use bowls with less steep sides too, but it is what it is.

I originally bought the smaller one as this version was not advertised until since then. Excellent product and extremely good customer service. I thought the handle (of the smaller one) could be a little wider as my hand was a little tight and said so in reply to a request for comments. The co-founder who contacted me said they had a new item, a larger version, that I might like to try. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and my wife decided she liked the smaller one, so now we have both sizes. Thanks! As far as the blenders themselves, they are excellently built. Nothing flimsy here. I haven't used them for pastry yet, but guacamole came out fine and very quickly. Onions weren't so successful, but then I can mince them pretty fast with a knife. I would say that this product lives up to its claims in both sizes. I thought the handle could be a little wider as my hand was a little tight and said so in reply to a request for comments. I was tired of our pastry cutters bending and handles breaking. Also wanted a more comfortable handle with a good grip. The cutting pieces are very sturdy. They bend slightly, but not to the point where you need to totally reshape them like the cheaper ones.

Both my blender and manual food chopper pulverizes nuts to nearly nut-dust - not helpful. This is just right for chopping nuts to just the perfect size to taste when added into various recipes. It is larger than a flimsier one that I bought in a local store (that bent and nearly fell apart after first use). This one is far sturdier and it fits my 'medium-sized' farm-girl hand with a little room to spare. I use it often with walnuts and pecans, but it doesn't disappoint using it in a small steel bowl with Brazil nuts and harder nut varieties. I think it's primarily made to cut pastry dough, but I work doughs with dual knives and by hand and I don't bother with getting this dirty for that. It's my perfect nut chopper for casseroles and brownies alike.

The quality of this pastry cutter is amazing, and the construction seems sturdy. I got the larger version, which was the perfect size and comfortable to hold. The rubber handle is wide enough (just about 5 inches) that it doesn't rub against my hand while using it, and the solid metal sides are perfect for scraping down dough from the sides of the bowl. Most importantly, the blades are sharp and wide enough that they easily cut butter into flour... in less than 5 minutes, I had perfect biscuit dough! It does say on the box to hand wash this pastry cutter "for best results", but many reviewers here on Amazon mentioned putting it into the dishwasher... I've been doing the same, and so far I haven't had any problems. This was a great purchase, and I'd definitely recommend it!

So far, I like the feel, weight, and utility of this pastry blender very much. I read through ALOT of reviews online before I chose this item, and I am glad I did. I bought it because I do alot of baking for family and friends. The blades seem sturdy and no more difficult to clean than others I have used. Although I have small hands, the handle was comfortable and there was room left over for a bigger fist. In fact, the title of my review implies that it may hold up better than my OXO one (where the blades have started bending a little when I use it on cold butter!) I would definitely consider this purchase again, however, I hope it won't be necessary.

Making biscuits and pie crusts and other foods that require “cutting in” the butter has always seemed like a real chore for me. Aside from the general difficulty I found in the basic recipes, the added task of using a dough cutter was a turnoff, because the one I had was just so dreadful. It totally kept me from WANTING to make our biscuits. Why did it take me so long to seek a better one? Well, better late than never, I guess. The large handle of the Spring Chef is a pleasure for my toxic masculine hand to grip. The blades are sturdy and strong, easily cutting through frozen butter without any bending out of shape. In short, I highly recommend it.

I tend to attack dough making aggressively and needed something very sturdy and with a handle large enough so my fingers were not tightly squeezed as it may take a while to completely incorporate all the ingredients for the dough. next I wanted something easily cleanable during and after working the dough and this fit the bill as the blades are about 3/8 inch apart allowing for a spatula to clean between them. Dough making is not easy and takes time but this has help reduce the time and strain on my hands.
