Collar is excellent after Amazon failure
Style: 500 Yard Range
Color: Black
I chose this e-collar because it has dedicated buttons for tone, buzz and stimulation. The transmitter has an excellent feel in my hand, great ergonomics. The display is large and bright even in direct sunlight. The 575 model is actually a 500 meter range not 500 yards which gives you more range than the Amazon sales write up states. I have a smooth collie with dense fur around his neck area so the longer prongs are a welcome addition. I originally tried the mini Educator brand and found their long prongs less effective due to being shorter than the SportDog brand. I really like the option of using tone/buzz or stim without having to adjust a setting on the go with this model. Even though my collie is 60 pounds with a dense neck coat he works well with the number two setting. The transmitter is also able to add an additional collar in the future. Build quality is very good and all buttons and switches feel sturdy and well put together. The only issue I had was with Amazon. I purchased my unit from Amazon Resale which used to be Amazon Warehouse deals. Amazon Resale are units that were previously purchased and returned then discount priced. The first unit shipped stated “Like New” but arrived without the transmitter. The second unit sent was also described as like new but arrived without a charger. Finally on the third attempt I received a perfectly satisfactory unit but without the factory box. Ironically the third unit without the box was the lowest priced unit and I saved a significant amount. These units are sold as new with full factory warranty not as refurbished units. I highly recommend SportDog but be careful buying from Amazon Resale, make sure all the items are supplied upon arrival.

Excellent product to keep my dog safe.
Style: 1/2 Mile Range
Color: Orange
I will use this collar for hunting, but I bought it primarily for training safety situations with a Lab puppy, like stay away from the road, stay off thin ice, etc. My son loaned me his Garmin training collar and I used it for about half a year before purchasing the SportDog. Functionally the two collars are pretty equivalent, but the SportDog has more customizable features and better range. I paid a little extra to buy the SD-875E; this model allows you to configure the three control buttons in eight different configurations for tone, vibrate, and shock. After you shock your dog once or twice, even at low intensity, using tone or vibrate will get the desired behavior. I reserve shocking only for dangerous situations where he isn't recalling and I need him to stop NOW! The SportDog control unit (transmitter) is intuitive to use and easy to configure. The only odd thing is there is no power-off control for the transmitter. I called SportDog Support, thinking I was not understanding how to turn it off. They told me there is no Off setting...the transmitter basically is always in a standby mode. I thought this would cause it to discharge quickly when not in use, but it does not discharge. I used the collar for multiple hours over multiple days over about a three week period before it needed a charge. At that point, the transmitter was still showing a full charge. Overall, this is an excellent product for the price.

Works great, could be better.
Style: 1/2 Mile Range
Color: Black
Model SD 875...Pretty good collar, use it almost every weekday. Working dog. The remote will stay charged for a month or more. But the collar has to be charged every 2 1/2 days. Charger died where it plugs into remote after about 10 months. But I think it was because the wire was being pulled instead of actually grabbing the plug to unplug from charger. You do have to make sure the collar is plugged in well, it will sometimes come loose while charging. But not a big deal. Range and controls do what they're supposed to, very well. The remote stopped charging after about 18 months. Contacted Sportdog, and they're sending me another one. I did buy another charger when it stopped first time. But all in all I would buy again. It gets put through tough conditions almost every day. And I've never had it fail so long as I do my part. Mud,rain, snow, ect.

Works well, but……
Style: 500 Yard Range
Color: Orange
There are many things I like about this collar. I have a lot more peace of mind allowing my dog off leash, knowing I have a way to communicate with her from farther away. I also appreciate that it has all three modes: tone, vibrate, static. The remote is super easy to use and holds a charge for a long time. The collar itself stays charged for over a week, with daily use, and charges to 100% in two hours or less. Customer service is also outstanding. Things that could be better: 1. A better collar strap. The strap is plastic/rubber, and a little over half an inch wide. When worn in the proper position, it looks to put pressure under the dog’s jaw line when at rest. 2. Better instructions. The instruction booklet comes with only basic instructions, but does not include how to make adjustments to the static setting (it has low and medium range), or include training instructions. Training is the most important part of owning a collar like this, so it seems odd that you have to search for it on their website. And I had to reach out to customer service to get instructions for how to turn down the static function as even on 1, my dog would jump and yell LOUDLY. Instructions to adjust static range: 1. Make sure the Collar Receiver is off. 2. Then turn the unit on by pressing and releasing the On/Off Button. 3. After the Indicator Light turns off and within 5 seconds, press and hold the On/Off Button for 3 seconds. 4. The Collar Receiver will then beep twice and the Indicator Light will flash orange. This indicates medium stimulation range. If low is desired, continue to hold the On/Off Button until the number of beeps/orange flashes equal 1. 5. Release the On/Off Button once the desired range is selected; the Collar Receiver will turn off. Again, the single most important part of owning an e-collar is proper training with your dog. This takes a good amount of time and patience, so if you think this will be a quick and easy fix, you will be sadly mistaken and will likely traumatize your dog. Your dog needs to be solid with voice commands before starting or train with this collar. You want the collar to be nothing more than an extended leash.

YES! Oh yes!
Style: 1/2 Mile Range
Color: Orange
I have two beagles. Getting them to come to me while on a scent was literally impossible prior to this product, and yes, I know exactly what the word 'literally' means. The fact is, at times you must to be able to reach out and 'touch' your dogs wirelessly. This is a wireless leash, once you learn to use it correctly. That is really what this product is. I can now hunt with my dogs with 'less' fear of them being injured or molesting big game animals. I say 'less' because they are dogs, but let me prove my point: I was out very recently and heard my dogs barking (not a scent bay like beagles do, which is very specific and easy to discern) and I immediately hit the audible 'recall' button which I have trained my dogs means 'come'. They both shot up the mountain to me immediately and I told them to stay while I observed a mountain goat they had seen. I was able to freeze and allow the goat to pass unmolested and also able to keep my dogs safe. In the state I live in the wildlife officers have the right to shoot my dogs dead if I don't control them so this is a VERY big deal. This product has literally changed my hunting grounds and allows me to 'stimulate' them if they fail to obey. Call it what you want, but animals sometimes need to be 'stimulated' and if you're a hunter or outdoorsman you will realize that is preferable to them being injured or you breaking the law. Follow the instructions and DO NOT overstimulate your animal, please! They learn fast. In fact, after just a few stimulations I never have to touch that button anymore and I will NOT use it unless they are chasing trash which puts them in danger and is illegal. Buy these now, but ONLY if you are willing to read the instructions, watch the videos and train your dogs properly. This product will change your life, and may even save your dog's life one day. Be safe, and hunt well.

Great product and great customer support
Style: 500 Yard Range
Color: Black
I have a 7 y.o. Black Lab/Catahoula hound mix, who tends to get very focused on smell trails, and the beep and vibrate are great for pulling her attention back, without me having to call from hundreds of feet away. I love using this collar for long distance recall. She loves running around our farm and woods, and I hike with her off-leash. I trained her to regard the beep and vibrate as the same as my voice recall. We use it to play hide and seek as well, where I can hide and use the beep to tell her to find me, without my voice giving away my location, which really keeps her alert and engaged with me. When we are hiking, I hate to ruin the sounds of nature with voice commands, so between the quiet beep, vibrate, and my hand signals, we can walk all day without disturbing the wildlife. She also loves to go kayaking with me and jumps into every stream and puddle she sees, so the waterproof feature was a must for me. I had this collar for over 2 years before the collar receiver stopped charging properly. I communicated with the support staff, and even though the warranty had expired they helped me trouble shoot the issue and sent me a link to the replacement pieces instead of buying a whole new set, saving me $150. Love the product and love the company.

Charging cord design Sucks. THEN AFTER GETTING A NEW CORD THE COLLAR ONLY LAST A YEAR ANYWAY
Style: 1/2 Mile Range
Color: Orange
There charging plug is absolute garbage. Who decided this was a good idea? The cord merely sit in the collar. The remote plug works great, snaps in & holds it with good contact. The collar end doesn’t make contact good at all. You’ll plug it in and walk away only to find out it hasn’t charged at all. I actually balance my up, then go shut off the lights in the room, just so I can see the reflection of the green light so I can tell if it charging or not before I leave the room. Most times I have to come back and tap the cord just right. It’s ridiculous. It’s been like this since the moment I opened the box. Collar works fine, but what good is it if it didn’t take a charge? Like I said, if it’s charged, works, but there are better designs out there, especially for the price! This is my 3rd sportdog over the last 8 years. The others (with different plugs have) been good, I wouldn’t buy this again. I should’ve sent it back the first day. UPDATE: a year later it stopped working again. I resorted to buying some cheap one off amazon for like $40. The new one feels cheap & isn’t nearly as durable, but honestly, it seems to work better. If I break it it’s not a big deal since I can buy 4 for what I paid for this one.

Good quality, waterproof
Style: 1/2 Mile Range
Color: Orange
This is the second one i have owned. I still have the original one, so I added the original collar to the new set. the new lcd display is great and user friendly. easy to switch between collars. Battery life on collar is about 3 days if you shut it off every evening. The remote will go some time before the battery meter degrades at all. Very good range on collar. The bright orange collar was a great idea. Only drawback is the collar is super long, and does tend to hang and/or drag with a puppy until it's full grown. The collar needs a retainer to support the extra length. i have been using a rubber band on it, but they dont last long. These are especially good for dogs that are swimmers, i.e. bird dogs, ponds, swamps, boats, pools. They are completely waterproof up to 25ft deep. A lot of the other brands are only water "resistant" which cannot handle being submerged in water. I'm very happy with this Training collar.
