Bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom and her partner and was a little nervous because it didn't have any reviews. Luckily, besides a few grammarical mistakes the instructions were easy to follow, and the pieces were all accounted for. Took them around 5 hours to construct but they enjoyed themselves the entire time. I didn't realize it when I purchased, but it also comes with a music box! No glue though. Who knew that at 30-something years old I'd find a new hobby that I'm obsessed with? I've always been a puzzle lover... but honestly, they take up too much space and I hate packing them back in the box once I've completed them. This gives me the same fun as a puzzle, but a beautiful little piece of art that I can enjoy afterwards. It can be tedious, so keep that in mind, but if you love puzzles or legos or anything of that nature and want to venture out into a 3D wooden puzzle - this is an amazing place to start! ... show more

Hours of entertainment, a lot more gluing than I thought but the outcome is great, it doesnt feel the most strudy, if you drop it fully assembeled it will likely fall into pieces but that might depend on how well of a job you did gluing.

I like the idea of a charming little diorama sitting on a bookshelf, and thought this might be kinda cool. But it's so much better than that. The pieces are wooden, the prints are vibrant, the cut-outs are precise. Overall it's a very high quality and attractive model. It's also lit (with a motion sensor, I think), and is a music box, that reverberates a slightly melancholy tune quite well on the wooden structure. I sat down figuring I'd be folding mostly cardboard pieces and putting it together in an hour or so - NOPE! It has a lot of small pieces and requires a little gluing. Fortunately, it has a good instruction booklet, and all of the pieces are clearly labeled. I'm sure it will take at least a fun afternoon to put it together, which my kids and I plan to do this weekend. It's going to look great on the bookshelf for many years. I got the 桜の街 (sakura-no-machi / Cherry Blossom City) set. I like it so much, that I'm getting one or two of the others to give as gifts. If you're also thinking of giving one of these as a gift - it won't be an easy project for a young child to build themselves. It will require some skill and a little patience to assemble. 12-14 seems about right to me, if they are experienced model builders. But any age would benefit from some adult help. ... show more

I spent weeks working on this book. Everything was going mostly well. I enjoyed the process and putting everything together. I would do a little bit after work today. Unfortunately the two outer walls were super difficult to put together. I managed to make it work with the first wall, but in the second wall I cracked it badly and several other pieces came loose. I don’t want to display it looking like that, so it all went in the trash. :( The wood in this kit is very fragile. I am a beginner at this and I would not recommend this kit for another beginner.
