Don't be fooled by the compact size of the block when it arrives—a little bit of this goes a long way once you soak it in warm water. I picked this up to fill a humid hide for my gecko during a shed, and used the remaining leftover batch to top off a few of my potted monstera and orchid plants. The quality is surprisingly clean compared to other brands I've ordered online. It didn't have a strong chemical smell, and there were barely any twigs, pine needles, or dirt debris mixed in. It holds moisture really well for 3–4 days without turning slimy or growing mold quickly. My gecko immediately took to it, and it made her shedding process so much easier. Will definitely keep this on reorder for terrarium maintenance!

I got this SCALYKIN sphagnum moss for my garden to help with the soil, and it seems to work well. It’s clean, soft, and easy to hydrate, and mixing a bit of it into my potting mix adds moisture retention without making the soil heavy. My plants respond nicely to it, especially the ones that prefer a slightly damp environment. It’s simple to use and a good value for small garden projects.

I know this says "for reptiles" but it can be used for your plants too! I used it primarily as a substrate for propagation of my house plants. I have a plastic box with a lid and put some of this, moistened obviously, into the box and put cuttings in there to grow in a humid environment. I have successfully propped pothos, scindapsus, philodendron, begonia, purple passion plant and hoya to name a few. I'd say this is excellent quality, and I like the green color. It looks like a tiny amount because its vacuum packed into a flat, skinny box. But it fluffs up nicely after hydrating it. I have gotten good value out of it, as I use it as a soil amendment as well as a propagation aid.

This is a good, soft moss made of safe, clean plant matter, which is durable and packaged with care. It looks good in my tank and my frog loves it. It's kind of big to fit in my current tank. The SCALYKIN Sphagnum Moss is a fantastic addition to my reptile setups and plant projects. The 3.4 OZ pack expands into a generous amount of soft, fresh-looking moss that holds humidity remarkably well. It creates an ideal moist environment inside hiding spots and humid hides, which works wonderfully for helping with smooth sheds and maintaining proper enclosure conditions. The moss feels clean, natural, and free of unnecessary debris right out of the package. It is also super versatile, as it holds up nicely whether I am using it to build up substrate layers, fluffing it for terrarium decor, or using it to retain moisture for potted plants. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is that it took a bit longer than expected to fully hydrate and fluff up on the initial soak, so you need to plan ahead a few minutes before adding it to your enclosure. Beyond that minor wait, it is a high-quality, reliable sphagnum moss that is sturdy, spacious, and extremely functional for crested geckos and reptile terrariums alike.

I love giving my hamster enrichment so I was excited to get this moss for her. This moss comes in a tightly packed thin brick. It needs to be soaked in water so it fluffs up, and since I can’t have any moisture in her enclosure, I squeezed out all the water and baked it in the oven until it was dry. It has a nice texture and is fluffy yet crunchy after I baked it. The price is great, I only had to use a little and it made a lot once hydrated and baked. Would get this again.

I really like this CALYKIN Sphagnum Moss. It arrived quickly, was well packaged and looks like the photos. I received exactly what I ordered. I like that it was vacuum sealed and compressed in the package. I ordered the green color and it's plenty green without being dyed. I am not a fan of dyed moss for my critters. It floofs up nicely and seems to be retaining moisture very well in the enclosure. It doesn't leak or bleed color when I mist it like others that are dyed to. It's soft and appears clean. This is a really nice quality sphagnum moss and it really working well for me. You get a good amount of moss for your money with this one and it should last me a long while. Overall I am very happy with this SCALYKIN Sphagnum Moss for Reptiles & Plants and it works very well for my needs. I find it to be an excellent value for a high quality clean dye free moss that retains moisture very well for enclosures. 5 stars from me for sure.

Let's start with the obvious. This stuff STINKS when you first open it. It's natural sphagnum moss though, so I'm not exactly sure what beautiful fragrance I thought was going to come out of the package. Smell aside, it does exactly what I needed it to do. It holds moisture well and expands into a good amount of usable moss once prepared. The compact packaging also makes it easy to store until you need it. Does its job well, just don't take a giant whiff when you open it.
