  • Water fill
I love that it's made in America. But the new regulations are ridiculous! The lock latch should be by choice! The water level should be by choice!

  • It does what it supposed to do!
Great washer! I had a box store brand, it was even bigger than this one, I hated it! I couldn't even wash a comforter or blanket without it messing up. This SpeedQueen is awsome! Very happy with it! I put my old washer that was less than 2 years old on the curb!

  • Best washer ever.
They don’t put Speed Queens in laundry mats for nothing. 5 year warranty from mfg. When my dryer dies I’m buying a Speed Queen.

  • Glad I made the purchase
I really happy with this machine. Seems really well made. Purchased because of its reputation, my regular appliance repairman highly recommended. I choose this one in particular because it did NOT have a locking lid and not a million options that I never use, just a simple machine without alot of bells & whistles that malfunction and cost so much to have repaired. So hope this lasts a very long time. ... show more

  • Blown away
I’ve read reviews upon reviews done tons of research and this was my option! Best one too I believe. Easy to use. Not load and knocks even on towel loads and such. Cleaned my queen comforter amazingly. Yessss finally a product I believe will last a very long time. It’s been 2 months and I love it!

  • Supposed improvements take this machine back into the dark ages
Note - I bought this from a local appliance center, but I want to share my experience before you buy. This washer replaces a top loading Kenmore that I owned for 19 years and was very happy with. I chose the TC5 because the layout of my laundry room will not accommodate a front loader and this machine is the only SQ top loader with an agitator. I have now owned the washer for just over 24 hours and have done 6 loads of laundry in that time … I can already say that I’m *not* in love. Pros: It is built like a tank. Its auto-fill feature does a good job 80% of the time and is easily changed to the full tub setting before agitation starts if the user so desires. Cons: (in order of least to most egregious) It is really ugly. Indeed, clean clothes are the primary goal, but that doesn’t preclude a wee bit of thought being applied to the aesthetics of a product being put into a residential setting. It is really loud - for as much as it costs, you would think they could improve sound dampening. The machine will not fill with water while the lid is open. So, I can’t allow the tub to start filling while I add my soap and color safe bleach under the water stream. This also means that I cannot dilute my dose of fabric softener up to the dispenser’s fill line from the washer, instead I have to either walk to the sink with my measuring cup or keep a separate bottle of water next the machine. No more being able to peak to see how well clothes are agitating or easily test the temperature of the water coming from your tap (which can be dramatically different summer vs winter where I live) so that you can efficiently adjust the temp setting part-way through filling. As such, the “no lid-lock feature” is functionally useless. The soak cycle is not its own cycle. Rather it is an “add-on” to a normal wash cycle *and requires* a 2nd rinse. The Soak and Second Rinse features should be independent functions so that I am able to choose either one or both. Just because I want to soak something does not mean it needs a second rinse, but I will be forced to use that extra water anyway. There is no pre-wash cycle. This is an extension of the problem with the soak cycle no longer being its own independent cycle. I can no longer briefly agitate and spin out a load of items being soaked so that I can check to determine if the product I’ve used for soaking and/or the length of time I’ve allowed the clothes to stay in said product was effective -or- if I need to try soaking it again in a different product, or in a higher concentration and longer duration of the first product. Nope. The machine mandates a) how long the items will be soaked and b) that they immediately go through a full wash cycle before I even know whether additional steps are necessary. This in turn means that - to prevent wasting water - the company has condemned me to go back to soaking items in buckets and wringing them out by hand in the bathtub. This is NOT progress. I don’t want ridiculous bells and whistles like the “twin load“ feature or wifi control. Similarly, in the year 2022, I expect that I should be able to get my laundry done without the use of buckets and rubber gloves. ... show more

  • Long wash time
Purchased at a retail store. But I want to share my comments. Just replaced a 12 year old Speed Queeen. Love the features on that machine, I expected the same with the new one. Only washed 4 loads. Each load took over an hour. Water does not dispense with the lid open. As stated in another review, you can not dilute softener using the stream of fill water. At the end of the wash cycle, I found the clothes to rolled and or twisted together. Owners manual give little information. ... show more
