Second use the lock pin bolt sheared off in the water on the ramp. Lower stars for durability. I'd suggest buying a few of the inner pin bolt just in case this is a design flaw and not a material quality issue. Nothing worse than cranking your boat and not having a way to hold it to your trailer.

I’m headed to town to get a grade 8 bolt to replace the weak strap anchor bolt. The winch just kept turning and wouldn’t tighten up. I took it apart and found the bolt on the end bent. This winch has no free wheel setting. You’re either going up or you’re going down.

I mounted this on a utility trailer to pull a 200lb plastic boat up on the trailer. Works very well. I don't have to back the trailer all the way into the water. I mounted a sturdy PVC pipe on the end of the trailer to act as a roller. I can push the boat off easily by hand. Then use the winch to drag the boat back on, without getting my feet wet. Purchased this for a 14’ john boat trailer. It works and functions great. I have a 20’ fiberglass runabout and it is considerably smaller then the one on that trailer. If you have a big boat get a bigger one, otherwise this one is great.

The bolt that holds the ratcheting switch (aka the locking mechanism for the gears) sheared off 2nd time I used it. Left my boat stranded at the ramp and I’m lucky I had a screw driver big enough to shove in there and keep it locked just to make it down to the hardware store.
