We adopted a stray pitbull who was found on our road and no one claimed. He's a very old gentleman and I wanted something sturdy and attractive for him to wear. He has been wearing this for about 5 months and it looks great still. There's no snagging or strings coming off. It looks nice on his big old beefy neck. And the handle on the collar is perfect for directing him to go somewhere gently without having to go grab a leash. That dark green looks really good on his brindle coat too. My 50 lb pit bull is so strong and she loves to pull and lunge at birds and cats. We used to use a choke collar and it did work to an extent. It made her pull less, but we noticed that it also pinched at the fur on the underside of her neck. Also, she got excited at the dog park and one of the prongs on the plastic clasp snapped on her choke collar, so what were we supposed to do then? Hubby had to carry her to the car and leave the park. I’m so glad I found this thick, sturdy collar! It has better control/guidance than the regular 1” collars. It also doesn’t make her gag like the 1” ones would when she does pull hard. The inside of the collar is soft and lined with neoprene, giving a bit of cushion. The clasp is all metal and feels really sturdy. The D-ring is huge, thick and solid for hooking her leash onto. It is a bit tricky to unclasp if my dog is moving around. Sometimes, if I don’t press both release prongs at the same time, it just stays connected at an angle. Then I have to push it back in to fully reconnect before it can be removed. I’ve learned to hold onto the D-ring with my left hand, and release the prongs with my right for a fast, smooth disconnect. But I wanted to emphasize that it only happens sometimes and wouldn’t deter me from buying this again. In fact, I’ve got my eye on a pastel one, which I hope Spark Paws will offer here on Amazon soon😉 ... show more

Collar is very nice and sturdy. The clasp is also strong and yet easy to unhook. My only beef with this collar is that the handle is a bit narrow especially when these collars are made for big and bigger dogs. Still worth the money and a nice strong collar! Would buy again.

I put this on my sensitive bully. She did not scratch at this collar at all. She has the 2inch and I wish I had the 1.5 but she isn't bothered by it. She's a big girl. 70lb XL. I like the handle on the collar. Hope it holds up to her strength. Just hope I can get it engraved with name and number. The colors are beautiful and as pictured.
