I picked up this card to get my system ready for Windows 11. I had bought a motherboard/CPU combo that had video ports on the back, so I thought I was set. Back in the day, if a motherboard had video ports, that meant it had onboard video. Turns out now the video comes from supported CPUs, and since I bought a combo, I couldn’t just swap the chip. I tried using my old graphics card, which worked fine, but it wasn’t Windows 11 compliant. That’s when I grabbed this GT740. Installation was straightforward, and it gave me the compatibility I needed. Bottom line: This card solved my upgrade issue and gave me a big step up over my 10‑year‑old system. I purchased this GeForce GT 740 4GB card for my old Dell Optiplex 3050 sff which has a pcie slot but has no extra room for sloting a card wider than a single slot and is next to the power supply. It is working great, i purchased this card because my mouse would lag and stutter at times even though the Win 11 performance didn't show any abnormal usage of computer resources. I have been using this device for three days with no mouse issues. HWmonitor app show the temp of the idle onboard GPU 107 F while the GeForce GT card shows max of 124 F. I only use this Dell for usual home use and no gaming or video editing. Will have to wait some time before the longevity of this card is.

The instructions aren't very clear for people who has never installed graphics cards before. I needed to change to the shorter brackets, but it was very unclear how to do it. I had to go searching on the internet to figure it out. I found a couple of YouTube videos that gave me on how to change brackets on graphic cards, but I couldn't find anything for these cards since they were quite different. After watching the videos a couple of times and examining the cards, I figured it out. After getting the brackets replaced, you need to use both short ones, installing the card was very easy. Win10 found the card right away. I am happy with the card; I can play games on my computer that I couldn't before. One is an Android game that I use BlueStacks with. The game starts lagging after an hour, but it is a huge improvement on how it lagged before. If I purchase another card, I will get a higher one. I am just glad I didn't get anything smaller.

This is an update....from my original review. Soyo contacted me after this review posted and we worked for several days trying to make it work. They were helpful and friendly, yet, we couldn't make it work properly. They were very quick to offer a full refund, which I received today, along with a 'coupon' to use later for another purchase. I can't ask for better customer service. Thanks When I installed it... there were 'dots' all over the screen. In other places, the colors were reversed. I'd have to say, my bad for buying a cheap card. Totally useless. I had it in an Optiplex 8th gen I-7, so needed a low profile card. Tried it in a different machine... still didn't work properly... and yes, I was using OEM Nvidia drivers.

I was looking for a low cost card that would allow me to play older games (BF2, BV and BF 1942). I also used this for War Thunder, it works well even at the ultra low settings the program selected. Game play is smooth. I originally purchased the same exact card (same brand and specs) from another vendor. I received that card installed it and set it up. It worked, but seemed slow for a 4GB VRAM card. I checked the card with DXDiag, GPU-Z and Nvidia Control Panel and all stated that card had only 2GB of VRAM. This card from Amazon was the same price as the other Vendor AND IT HAS 4GB of VRAM per the aforementioned programs. Thanks for saving the day Amazon!!! Works great for all my other work related functions.
