Nice piece of furniture for the price. It's totally ready to build, not high quality furniture but for the price people can't expect it to be more. Delivery was quick. Pieces were all there and in good shape. I saw so many complaint about damaged pieces and how long it took to put together. I didn't experience any of that. It does take a couple of hours to get together but it's a big piece of furniture. It's not hard just a lot of screws. One person can easily do it. My son helped me and called it dummy proof. You literally can't put the wrong piece in the wrong place. Pieces only go together one way. I find directions without word annoying. I guess they assume people can't read. However, if you have ever built anything like this it was pretty straight forward and not hard at all. It looks nice, it's a nice size. Using it in a guest room where it won't get daily use. I was hesitant to order this due to some reviews of its difficulty to assemble, but it was relatively easy. Just slow down and follow the instructions step by step. My only critique was that i wish the nails and screws were labeled, not just you guessing based on the pictures, but it was not too hard to figure it out. I put it together with my sister in 2hours.     • Time consuming but works great for the price
The box weighs a lot so have a friend help you move it to the room you will be setting it up. Instructions were detailed and there were plenty of pieces so take your time and it will be a breeze to put together. Was a little worried with the quality of the bottoms of the shelves. They seemed rather weak when i put them in but they do sure up with some added screws and a brace. It took about 2 hours to put together but well worth it for the price. Shelves slide out surprisingly easy for using plastic instead of metal. And just so there is no confusion the top "four" shelves are actually two shelves made to look like four. So the picture you see is the actual piece. So 6 shelves total. So when you start this construction project i recommend putting on some of your favorite tunes, grab a hot cup of cocoa and plan on spending a couple hours sitting on your floor. I would have preferred more expensive bedroom furniture, but the staircase in this 125 year old house is too narrow and has too many corners to bring anything much larger than a coffee table upstairs. So... assemble-it-yourself has been the only way to go. I purchased the media stand from this collection first, and was pleased with the sturdy construction, the attractive finish and hardware, and ease of assembly. This dresser was no different, and I'm pleased with it for the price. The drawers glide easily (plastic runners) and have stops to prevent pulling them out too far, they're plenty roomy. The ebony color is very dark chocolate and black with a soft satin gloss. It's quite neutral and blends well with antique Persian carpets and Tiffany style lamps, though it would work with modern decor, too. Most of the pieces come with a touch-up marker to fix nicks or scratches. I've also purchased the tall chest, nightstand, and mirror. They're all good, basic pieces to decorate around, and reasonably priced for what you get. ... show more

    • Cheap, difficult to assemble, not worth your time or money

This piece looks nice but once it arrives it's very clear that the material is cheap. I worked on setting it up with a couple friends and, despite following the directions, couldn't quite get everything to lock in properly. When a friend who has built furniture before looked at it, we learned that some of the fasteners need to be situated in the exact right way to fit other pieces and then lock properly. While the instructions mention a 'half turn' they do not explain what that means or why. Even once everything started locking in, the item was not sturdy. I kept putting it together to see if the drawers helped stabilize and to see how everything looked once together. Before I could put all the drawers in, I realized the back lower piece had completely splintered. In addition to this, the shipping was late, the bottom piece was slightly damaged upon arrival, and the front piece was warped. This is definitely getting returned. I have already spoken with Amazon and South Shore about a full refund. Do not waste your time, money, or energy on this item. ... show more

It's weird that the one box came a day early, but the other box came in the next day. Other then that it is pretty easy to assemble, with easy to read directions. Some of the materials are a little iffy, but it comes with spares. The nails are kinda easy to miss but but everything else is easy to use. The dresser looks great in my room and easy fits my 50 inch TV with plenty of room to spare. Definitely would recommend. ... show more

We bought five pieces from this collection, and we're very pleased with all of them. They took some time to put together, but the directions were quite good, and all the hardware was included. As long as you don't treat them like more-expensive furniture (i.e., don't abuse them, don't let liquids sit on them), you'll be very pleased with the purchase. They were delivered quickly and arrived undamaged. This piece in particular took quite a while to put together because of all the drawers, but it's now supporting our A/V receiver and three speakers, as well as a modem, Apple TV unit, and wireless router. And it's completely full of clothes. We're very happy with this purchase so far. ... show more
