Previously I would freeze stuff in old sour cream containers and such. The lid wouldn’t stay on properly. You couldn’t get the food without defrosting a lot fist. Freezer burn seemed to happen pretty quickly. I’d have no idea what was in each container. With these the lid stays on perfectly. You are able to pop the food right out with very very little remnant behind. I haven’t seen any freezer burn yet. You can kind of see what’s in the containers with the clearish lid. The construction feels solid (although careful with the bottoms because they are pliable to allow you to pop the food out). Cleanup is easy because nothing is really left behind. I got the 2 cup with the thought that each pod would be one meal. So far with what I’ve put in there (stir fry and a casserole), one pod seems to be like a meal and a third of a meal. One pod is too much for one person, but a whole pod is not enough for two people. I’m still working out the measurements, but otherwise this has changed my freezing game so my husband doesn’t have to eat the same thing all week. ... show more

Foodsaver friendly

I have been vacuum sealing food at home for over 20 years. I'm on my second FoodSaver machine. I cook 2-3 times a year and the rest of the time I just boil the bags to heat them up. No mess, dinner is ready in about 20 minutes and best of all I know exactly what's in my food. (by the way I buy everything organic, non-GMO and I eat for less than $60/week and that includes fresh items like eggs and fruits and I always have fresh chocolate chip cookie dough ... vacuum sealing is very economical and healthy) . For sure the days when I cook there is a huge mess. Making 30 mini meatloafs to go with 40 pounds of mashed potatoes while also cooking 3 gallons of minestrone, two lasagnas, 20 servings of Chicken Marsala, 2 gallons of veggie chili ... you get the picture. But I'll gladly suffer a weekend filled with dishwashing and cooking for 4-5 months of easy meals! These nifty Souper Cubes have changed my life :) The 2-cup size fits perfectly in the FoodSaver 8" sized roll. This cut my freezing labor by more than 80% ... literally. It used to take me at least 90 minutes to vacuum seal any batch of soup. And it was a MESS ... soup does not want to be spooned into bags and does not want to stay there. Using these Souper Cubes took less than 20 minutes and most of that time was spent waiting for the machine to finish vacuuming. And best of all NO MESS ... YAY! I just filled the cubes and popped them in the freezer overnight. Viola! More good news ... these turn my soup into perfectly stackable bricks which means I can fit more in the freezers. And they solved my frozen Mac & Cheese problem. If you've ever tried to freeze homemade Mac&Cheese you know what I'm talking about. I have no idea where the cheese goes ... probably the same place my socks go in the laundry ... but every time has resulted in reheated noodles with only the tiniest hint of cheese. But with the 1-cup size I freeze the cheese sauce separate from the noodles. I put a bunch of noodles in the Foodsaver bag and then drop in a cube of frozen cheese sauce. Empty Nest, Full Freezer — These Make It Possible

I grew up in a large family, and I truly only know how to cook for 4+ people at a time. That's great until your nest is empty and you are suddenly cooking for one, and HATE wasting food. I mean, my neighbors appreciate me sharing meals with them, but there is a whole new world out there because of these cubes! The Souper Cubes are the best method of frozen food storage I have ever used! The silicone is of excellent quality and there is an internal metal frame that prevents these trays from collapsing when filled, They can even be stacked upon each other when placing in the freezer. They completely hold their shape no matter what you put in them and when you stack them! Absolutely no sagging, drooping, or spilling trays - which believe me, I have experienced with other brands. I have purchased the 2-cup and 1 cup trays and I love them! So far I have used them for soups, my homemade bone broth, casserole servings, sauces, baby corn breads, spaghetti sauce, and even mini meatloaves. Once frozen, I pop them out and store them in 1 Gallon Freezer storage bags that I label so I can reuse the trays. TIPS: 1. Don't overfill past the line or they won't all fit neatly into the 1-Gallon Freezer Bags. 2. I fill them directly on a cookie sheet and then put the whole cookie sheet in the deep freeze. This is the easiest mathod I have found - once they are frozem, I pre-label ziplock gallon bags and put the cubes in them to thaw and use as needed. 3. I have a couple of friends who struggled to get their food out - I just set it out for a few minutes and then push up from the bottom of the tray and presto! 4. Don't pick up from the bottom unless frozen, as the silicone is pliable and you WILL have a mess. This is the chief reason I use the cookie sheet method. This has really leveled up my meal prep and empty nest cooking game. I tried a cheaper model but the lids were a DISASTER. Flimsy is not your friend. ... show more

The First Original Design on The Market

These Souper were the first of these products on the market, now there are tons of knock off, but the Souper is still the best. They nest to save space, but it works best with four or less. The inner band the forms the support rim is stainless steel, another sign of the quality. You can bake in these also, which I do from cakes to lean meat loaves. I make individual servings of stews, chilis (shown in photo), lasagnas, in the 2 cup version. Individual spaghetti sauce in the 1 cup version. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, veggies, and homemade applesauce, in the 1/2 cup ones (shown in 2nd photo on the left side). I have all the versions that Souper makes. I could show you lots of photo, LOL, they work so well. Once they are frozen you can take the food out and put them in ziplock bags and reuse the Souper. (Four of the chili servings will fit in one Ziplock gallon bag.). It is so easy to cook large batches and then divide among the Soupers and freeze. When you want a meal, just pick what potions you want and put them in divided glass dishes, and bake everything in that one dish in a HotLogic, but an oven or microwave works too. Don’t miss the cookie Souper either, because it really helps at Christmas — makes the perfect cookie size. Oh and they come with a terrific oatmeal cookie recipe sized perfectly for the cookie Souper. I make the dough one day and bake another; you will be shocked at how much easier that is. It’s even great to bake just a few cookies for us as we want them rather than a full batch. They are sold in sets of two. They also make a sampler set, but I find at a MINIMUM two sets of everything works the best for batch cooking. Anyway, I couldn’t recommend the Soupers and the sellers more highly. By the way I found a perfect container at Staples to hold them, which really helps, (shown middle photo). ... show more

No more microplastics in our food!

What a great idea! I previously used plastic ziplock bags or vacuum sealed leftovers, but now we know that microplastics are leaching into foods and are harmful, so I switched to these silicone freezer molds with lids. I love them so much that I purchased several more sets in various sizes. I make our Schnauzer’s meals in advance and then freeze them in these cubes. I love how easy it is to pop the individual sections out to warm them in the microwave for her dinner. I like the fact that I can bake in them also. ... show more

Pops right out for easy meal prep

I received this as a gift. I liked it so much that bought it as a gift for my daughter. I use it when I make large batches to freeze. The only reason I give it a 4 star instead of 5 is the ice crystals that form on the top of the food. That doesn't happen with other freezer containers. However, I really love how it pops right out of the silicone part. I can the move it to my silicone freezer bags combined with other self-prepared frozen foods to meal plan. I never heat up the foods in the containers I freeze in. This way I can plop them right out into a pan or an oven depending on what food I froze. Absolutely love these silicone cubes. I actually bought multiple sets, because each 2 cups serving is really only enough for one adult. I have frozen everything from many soups to of course; chili, mini-lasagna, dog food/broth, I even tried one where I made a curry put the rice on the bottom and the curry on the top and surprisingly did well that way versus the rice all mixed in. If you are gonna freeze rice, make sure it is not cooked too soft prior to freezing. I prefer if it’s a little al dente so when you re-cook it, it’s not mush. Now, rice mixed in the soup is fine to freeze, but again I wouldn’t cook it to the point of mush prior to freezing. I highly recommend pre-cooking skinless boneless chicken BREAST, and rice(or peeled potatos if pets can’t have rice) with low-fat broth(I pre-drain the fatty part and low slow cook it again with water for extra sensitive pets that can’t do fat) for your pets to have on hand when they get sick, so it is ready to go. I have gotten this for New Home gifts, as well, and for Seniors. Not once have these cube stained, even with the chili, lasagna or spaghetti sauce. They do well in the dishwasher on the top rack and I usually hand wash the lids because they take up so much room. The only time they smelled after washing is when I made a fish broth, to get rid of it I had to soak the cubes in fresh lemon juice overnight, and wash a few times prior. ... show more

Great for meal prepping

These are great for meal prepping. Food is well proportioned and easy to remove from mold. Depending on the size of your freezer they can be a bit bulky. Overall a great product.
