I bought this for my brother who is in the Governor's school. He Plays wind instruments but like to dabble with other ones. I was clueless on how to tune this and get it right. But he picked it up and was playing music after just a few adjustments. It is beautifully built and the bow is gorgeous. He said it easy to tune and is great for a play instrument. It was worth every penny.

I had a old student violin from the 80s - that needed parts and setup- so Im just learning so I thought with the advances in manufacturing the current student violins would be better so I bought one - the ADM kit - Ive tried 3 bridges all of which required taking 1/8 of material off the make it somewhat playable. The pegs wont hold even after reaming . The string tension is so taught the fine tuners are useless - I ended up fixing the 80s violin and it serves the purpose of learning scales. The AMD looks like a violin - its a true VSO - if you can afford it buy from a company that sets them up- cause the average person will slide it under the bed and give up trying to learn

This is the perfect violin for toddlers/young children! It is small enough in size for a small child to hold by themselves and is made from a sturdy enough material where durability is not a huge concern, plus it is beautiful to look at. It has all the materials for getting started-- including extra strings, extra bridge, resin, and tuner, as well as an instruction manual for you to follow if you are like me and never been exposed to the maintenance of this instrument before, which is bang-for-buck in my book, definitely worth the price. It took a minute to learn how to tune and is not always easy-- definitely a job for an adult, not a young child learning-- but the overall sound quality is good when the pitch is perfect. If the tuning wasn't so tricky to figure out (I had to watch a YouTube video), it'd be five stars all the way.

I got these because they were cheap and my kids were just starting out. The kids love them, their music teachers hate these violins. Unfortunately they don't stay in tune and they're really difficult to get into tune even. The final straw was when my youngest came home from school crying because she missed a huge chunk of her class because her teacher spent the entire time trying to get the violin in tune. Their teacher recommended that we go to a music store and rent them each a violin. We did that and I would highly recommend doing the same before buying these. These are violin shaped objects, not violins. I'm giving 3 stars though because the cases and all the accessories are really nice, and worth keeping as spares. I would buy the cases and accessories again if they were sold separately, definitely recommend those. Just not the violin itself unfortunately. In general, I hate leaving bad reviews, but my kid came home crying over the violin not working properly so I feel this review is justified.
