Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very good for its price-point Very good for its price-point
Color: Black
First, a couple of qualifiers: My five-star review is heavily influenced by how much this costs and how impressed I am with it as a stand-alone unit. This is not necessarily a five-star product compared to other products that cost hundreds of dollars more than this, or are competing in otherwise entirely separate classes or categories. This is a five-star review of a $170 (at the time of purchase) boombox. You may be cross-shopping this with other products that cost more, or are otherwise higher-end or competing in different spaces, and I'm not attempting to suggest this is as good as, better, or worse than those. If I'm comparing to anything else, I'll note that in my review. Some background: I exist almost entirely in the JBL ecosystem. I have a JBL Xtreme, and a couple of JBL Charge speakers of differing generations. I've never not been happy with my JBL products, but I just spent a long weekend at a cabin with friends and took my JBL Xtreme speaker as portable sound. Not a complaint, necessarily, about the Xtreme, but when we got home and I was moving things around, it slipped out of my hand and landed on the tile floor, breaking some of the trim. Entirely cosmetic, but I decided I needed something more purpose designed for moving around, i.e. something with a handle. My immediate instinct was to look at the JBL Boombox. But wow is it expensive. I've dabbled in Anker/Soundcloud products before, and as much as I've wanted to love them, I just haven't. Most of them have been returned, because of audio issues, connectivity issues, or just general quality of construction problems. But this kept popping up in my searches, and people seemed to be happy with it. I figured maybe they've finally hit the mark. And at $80 less than listing price, I figured it was a pretty low risk gamble. I've been pretty happy so far with it. It's solid and feels sturdy. The sound quality, especially after you give it some time to break in, feels like it punches well above its weight. With the Bass-up feature turned on, it's very bassy, but not like Beats by Dre bass. It doesn't make the sound muddy. Just punchy. Compared to the JBL Xtreme, it definitely doesn't feel as high-end of construction. But it feels well put together. Some more premium materials-- like rubberized instead of hard plastics-- would be nice, but they probably don't affect the overall experience. One thing I will note is that the JBL sounds better inside, but the Soundcore sounds better outside. The JBL needs walls for its optimal sound. The Soundcore doesn't seem to rely as heavily on them. I can't compare it to the JBL Boombox, but that's also a lot more expensive, so I don't feel like that's a fair comparison. The custom EQ settings are fine, but I think it's fine using Soundcore's "signature" EQ setting for most music. The lights are fun, but I ultimately turned them off for battery longevity. I've not tested the water resistance, and don't plan to, but I'll trust them on their rating. I can't comment on the Auracast, as of now, but the party-mode from JBL has been pretty disappointing, so if it's at least as good as that, it's fine. Overall, this is exactly what I want for exactly what I need: a portable speaker for picnics, beach, cabin, etc. It's much louder than it deserves to be. At home, I've kept the outdoor volume around 40% to not annoy the neighbors. It's not the nicest, or most impressive, or sexiest rig out there. But I can confidently say it's a solid entry in the relatively inexpensive portable boombox market. ... show more

  • All around amazing
Color: Blue
Absolutely love this. Had it for a year before it got stolen, and battery life, durability, audio quality, ease of transportation, everything was incredible. Very popular at pregames and indoor parties, as well as at the beach and more. Just purchased a replacement. For the cost, incredible value.

  • Amazing sound — exceeded my expectations!
Color: Green
I purchased the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus Portable Speaker by Anker, and I can honestly say these speakers are incredible. The sound quality absolutely blew me away. The bass hits hard without overpowering the mids and highs, and the clarity stays impressive even at high volume. Whether I’m indoors or outside, it fills the entire area with rich, powerful sound. The battery life has been excellent, setup was quick and easy, and the build quality feels solid and premium. It’s portable enough to take anywhere, but don’t let the size fool you — this thing gets LOUD. The sound remains clean and crisp even when pushed. I’ve owned and used a lot of speakers over the years, and for the price, this may be one of the best audio purchases I’ve made. Anker really knocked it out of the park with the Boom 2 Plus. If you’re on the fence, stop thinking about it and buy it — you will not be disappointed. So far, I’ve purchase 2 of the Boom 2’s and 2 of the Boom 2 Plus’s. I told my family today I wish I had 10 more of each because WHY NOT?!?!?!? The video doesn’t come close to capturing the experience, but I’m sharing it anyway! ... show more

  • powerful speaker and great for both indoor and outdoor& outdoor use
Color: Blue
loved this speaker, powerful & gives a good quality of the bass, easy to connect via bluetooth. a bit too big, not an issue at all - usually there is a trade off if you get a smaller one as far as sound quality

  • Satisfied but not impressed
Color: Green
Decent speaker but not perfect. I got mine for $174 on black Friday 2025 and that feels like a fair price. Quality is decent. Speaker feels solid and well built. I've used the strap that it comes with frequently and it has bounced off of various hard surfaces rather hard and it takes the hits like a champ. Not too heavy not too bulky. Relatively easy to take around and use on the go especially with the strap it comes with. Sound quality is decent. There is a really nice equalizer setting on the app and it offers amazing adjustments but I don't have the ear or patience to set that up so I use their "soundcore premium" preset with bass boost and it works for me. Thats where the sound quality dives for me though. You really need the bass boost for the speaker to sound good. Otherwise you'll be staring at it wondering why such a big speaker sounds so weak. On the other hand if you plan on turning it up really loud you have to turn the bass boost off because you'll blow the speakers. That hasn't happened to mine but I did turn up a bass heavy trance song all the way one time and could hear the sub cracking and popping from overuse. Haven't used the bass boost and high volume at the same time since. The sound quality without bass boost does get decent at high volumes though. Just remember to turn off bass boost before turning up. Battery is a disappointment. 20 hour life advertised but I get about 9 to 15 hours. Around 13 hours with volume at 50% or less, lights off and bass boost on and battery life varies heavily depending on how loud I play it. That turnout isn't bad but I work 10 hour shifts and if I don't mind the volume it won't last the 10 hours. Bummer for me since I wanted to just use it and not worry about it but instead I have to mind the volume and I worry if it'll make it to the end of shift some days. Bluetooth connectivity works as expected. No issues with dropping connection and connects right away. Overall I wouldn't pay $1 over $200 for it if I just had to have it. I'm satisfied with it but not impressed. I would have definitely returned it if I paid the $250 retail for it but at the $174 I paid its a decent speaker. It's a good jack of all trades speaker but you gotta take care to not be too hard on the speakers with the bass boost. I've had mine for around 3 months now and it still sounds good and battery is still holding up. Long term reliability is still up in the air though so time will tell on that. ... show more

  • A Speaker to Surpass the Stormbox Blast A Speaker to Surpass the Stormbox Blast
Color: Black
They did it. The first Motion Boom Plus was thier best overall sounding speaker with the most bass, but it couldn't quite match the Tribit Stormbox Blast. I can say now that thanks to its larger size and bigger power output, this speaker is the new favorite in town. It's got deeper, bigger bass and can get a lot louder than the Blast. Highs and mids can both be adjusted to your preference so those are pretty much the same. Slightly fuller sound thanks to bigger woofers with a higher power output. 140w vs 90w peak. It weighs less than the Blast and I think looks a little better too. Never cared for the led lights on the front of the Blast. There are about 8 different lighting options each with the ability to choose a custom color pallette and you can dim or turn them off completely. Compared to Soundcore's other offerings, it is of course the king of litter this size or below. I was a little surprised how much bigger and little heavier it is than the original Boom Plus, so might be something to consider. If you are looking for a more portable speaker the new Boom 2 is an impressive alternative. Nothing else will rumble your surroundings as much as the Boom 2 Plus though. The only speaker that does something better in my opinion would be the X600. Because of the way the speakers are angled it really does an amazing job of giving an open soundstage I haven't found in any other single bluetooth speaker. The price of $250 for this speaker does feel maybe a tad high considering I can get the Stormbox Blast for $200 or less (I got mine for $150 on sale), but it is still less than say the JBl Boombox or Sony Ult Field 7 for roughly the same performance. It also looks and feels quite a bit more premium than first Boom Plus. Overall while the price might be a tad higher than what I'm used to from Soundcore, it's bigger more premium all around speaker than the original with sound quality a bass output that beats the Blast. I highly recommend. ... show more

This little sound system Bluetooth speaker is amazing. It can be heavy bass oriented or you can turn back the bass. But using the app you can customize the sound that you want to come out of the speaker. It does not distort at high volume and it has a long battery life. You can also use it as a charger if needed for your cell phone. It was very easy to hook up to my Android phone with no issue. ... show more
