Silly me. I see "Sound by JBL" and I think I'm getting a high quality speaker device. Well, the speaker is ok, but nothing that commands a premium price. It sounds best within 5 feet and by 10 feet away it sounds 20 feet away. The problem started for me first when I picked it up, then when I touched it. It does not have enough weight to seem solid quality and the texture---and look---is plastic/rubber. The tiny (plastic, not wood) legs look proportionately wrong and the front buttons/plug look like they belong on the back (a higher quality look would have made the indented space flush with the curvature of the base). The wood handle can't rescue the design. Normally I do not mention price, but when the price/value ratio seems way off, it's only fair game to say so. I don't see the value here. The light is OK, but it does not get that bright. The sound is OK, but doesn't get that loud. It's a jack of two trades and master of neither. BTW, there is no app, or even a remote. You'd be better off buying a separate speaker (even a JBL one) and light, but if you are going for convenience over function it may be a compromise you don't mind. ... show more

I waited to review this as i wanted to see how this performed over a couple of days. To be honest I am a little disappointed at the sound coming from this product and I say that because it has the JBL logo on it and Ithough it would be amazing, especially for the hefty price. it is a fairly but uint and most of it is the light which is very nice but again I though this would be 90% speaker and 10% light instead of the other way around. If you are looking for agreat bluetooth speaker your money is better served somewhere else, i have heard speakers ofr a tenth of the price out perform this one. ... show more

Picked this up to try it out as a replacement for a current small sound setup that doubles as a decent portable speaker (Sony XB-33, already about 5 years old). At this price point, it's simply not competitive against a small dedicated speaker with some bass response, of which this has basically none. Whatever sound JBL provided was not their best. As a small portable light source, it's quite light, sits sturdily on the legs and provides a nice soft glow that'd be appropriate while camping or the like. It even brightens or darkens gradually to give your eyes time to adjust, which is considerate. However, it stands almost a foot high, so I guess it's meant to sit out on a patio or poolside with rather than cart with you camping. At that point, though, a better speaker and dedicated light is simply a better proposition. I'm just not sure who this product is for, with this price tag. Given the sacrifices and the absolute width of the market for sound, light or light with sound it seems like it should be a $60 item. ... show more
