it can be mounted onto a desk or bookshelf. it comes with a key. you can use the fingerprint or keypad. keypad can be 8 digits long. it's easy to add fingerprints and change the code if needed. comes with a hard foam insert to keep the pistol in place.     • Great little safe
This is a great little safe for holding 1 firearm. It is sturdy and seems well built. I wish that it had more numbers to set a digital code with (it has 1,2,3,4) but I'm sure that available space the for keypad had something to do with that. I found that setting the code was easy and straight forward (and you can enter a longer code than just 4 numbers - you are just limited to using combinations of 1-4). Setting the fingerprint was also easy and straight forward. I like that the key access is right in front since the batteries are contained within the safe. My only other wish is that it had a little more space inside for an extra mag for a full sized semi auto. It holds my Glock 22 (40 cal w 15 round mag) just fine and it seems to have a little extra space for a larger firearm, but not quite enough for an extra mag. Oh well, I don't miss too much anyway so I probably won't need more than 15 rounds. ... show more

    • Biometric opens to ANY touch
The gun safe works well, it's sturdy and easy to install. However - I set the fingerprint reader and tested it to see if it recorded my fingerprint and it did, or at least it resonded to my fingerprint. Today I reached over and without thinking I used a finger that was NOT programmed in and it opened. I was surprised, then I tried to open it with my knuckle and it opened on that as well. The whole purpose of this safe is to keep kids and other unauthorized people out, but whien it opens with the touch of any body part, that is not secure enough to protect it's contents. I tried to contact the vendor via amazon's link, but the link is caught by my security software as a phishing site so I can't contact the vendor about this either. ... show more

Product seems great so far. Set up was easy and installation on nightstand took minutes. Seems to work great. I cut a little extra foam out to fit laser and flashlight attachment. Does the truck, easy access and a clean safe spot for storage.

It's good quality, and heavy. Easy to set up and works every time. The only complaint would be the mounting bracket and screws. You may want to modify and bolts for more security. Wish it came with two brackets for side and top mount, instead it's an all in one.
