I bought this to carry in my car for securing my gun when going where it is not allowed. It is fairly heavy duty which is a good thing. I have several other small safes and I never realized how lightly built they were until I got this Hornady safe. It is fantastic the way it can be opened with an RFID (included) tag that I put inside my phone case as well as by a combination that you can set yourself as well as a key (only needed really if the batteries go down). I had a little trouble getting it programmed which may have been my fault or may have been slightly confusing instructions. (I'd hardly ever admit to it being my fault). I was all set to call the company but luckily it was after they had closed and so I tried one more time guessing at what was being said. It worked like a charm! The fact that it comes with a bracelet is nice. The RFID tag is opposite the clasp and foolish me I kept trying to make it work with the clasp. The cable that comes with it is quite strong and relatively thick. It makes the cables on my other small safes look like cheap wire (and I thought before they were pretty good). The wide variety of ways to open this safe make this a real winner along with how well built it seems to be. As an add on it comes with 2 RFID tags, and RFID key fob, a bracelet (with RFID) and if you are using it indoors in a fixed position a plug in so you don't have to use batteries (or you can). Very complete set-up and very well designed.

This XL safe does exactly what I want which is to have a safe that I can quickly access my handgun when things hit the fan in the middle of the night. It gives peace of mind that things are safely locked away from little ones while you are away. I am able to fit a full size S&W M&P Full Size 9mm and a Taurus PT92 (Beretta copy) inside with little room to spare. I now have my M&P with a light attached and that is all I can fit inside it now. The light takes up the space where the handle of the Taurus where it sat. The quick access stickers work great. I use them over the fob and keypad. I attached the sticker to the back of my otter box case for my iphone then put the silicone cover over it. It works great and has yet to not open because of it being on a case. It might however not work if you put it on the phone then put the case over the top of it. Not sure, haven't tried that. Overall a great safe and would recommend to anyone looking for a nightstand safe. I have actually purchased one for my father since the grandkids come over a lot.

5 stars because the mechanical functionality is reliable, discreet & safe. Pros: • fast deployment, variety of methods to open • key fob or sticker option allow for low/zero light access if you need to jump out of bed. With enough practice & mental prep, you can open this safe quickly without ever looking at it. • The button feedback indicators can be muted Cons: • The rfid sticker wasn't strong enough to fight through interference from my iPhone & case. Even when the case was removed, the sticker would not work when placed on my 6s+. The sticker worked flawlessly when away from my phone • The indicator lights attract children. Is there an option to turn all feedback off? These cons are not significant enough to take a star away. I'm glad I waited until safes got smaerter and cheaper. This safe makes sense.

I used this product to safely store two pistols. I have been very pleased. First, you can mount it to the wall which puts it at eye level and keeps it away from little kids. Additionally, it would be harder to steal because it is mounted to the wall. There are three quick and easy ways to access it: numeric code, stickers and a keychain that make it open, and an actual key. The safe will even let you know when it is low on batteries. It isn't very big so if you are trying to store two large pistols they might not fit, but for two smaller ones it works great.

Positives... It's super heavy. Thick steel. Feels as if it might be tough to crack into. I believe that if it was secured with the tether to the car seat frame, it would stay there, and no one is going to take it away or get it open. .. .. Improvement needed ... It slick, and awkward to hold onto, making it difficult to snatch up into a usable position due to its extreme weight. Weight being a good thing, but slick bad. It needs some grip tape on it, top, bottom, and maybe sides. There isn't any padding on the sides, causing serious rubbing on the item inside if used on it's side in a vehicle for travel. The padding on the top and bottom need to have been provided with a potential extra layer possibly to help prevent some of the movement, assuming the extra internal pressure wouldn't interfere with the unlocking mechanism. So lack of padding. The cable tether is adequate, but it jumps out each time you open it, and there is no way to stop it from doing so. So each time you need to close the case, you have to stop what you're doing, and focus your head down with eyes locked in and both hands on the unit to have a secure action with a secure mind. So that isn't good. The pamphlet inside the box is several years old offering the latest products from several years ago, but that doesn't bother me at all, just saying. The top has a contour design that may be for aesthetics, or for strength, or both, but it's so slick, and angles you can't put anything on top without it sliding off immediately. Finally, the springs do need to be a bit stronger on the initial opening jump, and the follow up opening strength both. Again, the initial opening jump springs may be "weak" to prevent extra pressure on the lock, that potentially would cause failure of the existing feature, but I don't think that was the overall consideration because that could be designed around. The upper padding was glued in, and probably should be hook and looped in. This unit doesn't appear to have any water resistant features at first glance, or mention from the description or instructions or advertisement. It doesn't come with a provision for humidity controll, or concept for that. The open exposed mounting holes and other such holes don't have plugs. The flat wire that runs up to the keypad features, looks fragile, and doesn't have a uhmw or flat Teflon or similar plastic strip guarding it from placing a heavy hard edged metal object onto it. The padding on the bottom needs to have a perimeter or partial perimeter of hook and loop securing it down, or up especially, in the event you are using the safe in a vertical or sideways, or upside down position. The cable tether needs the option of being at least a foot longer for use in vehicles with a lot of distance between the seat support frames, and the center console, or the opposite seat. So that the safe could be temporarily repositioned but still tethered. Thanks for reading.

Biometric safes have not been reliable for me. So, I decided to try the Hornady 2700KP quick access gun safe. What an excellent product. Easy to setup and program. Love the streamline look of the 2700KP sitting on my night stand and it looks more like a piece of tech equipment than a gun safe. Love that it's AC powered 24/7 with a 4-AA battery backup. Both my wife and I wear the RFID brackets, which work great and are reliable, along with the 4-6 digit key code. Size wise a Ruger GP100 4" barrel fits perfect and there's room enough to hold two pistols, or extra magazines or in my case a flash light. After many missed on quick access night stand gun safes the 2700KP is perfect for me. And, the RFiD gives a more reliable sense over biometrics. Highly recommend!

EXCELLENT! It's very well designed, easy to use and heavy duty. Definitely not a cheap safe. It can be opened by a key, a digital combination or by any of the 4 RFID tags that are included. Also comes with easy to use cable for securing the safe in the car. We wrap the cable around the framing of the back seat and hide the safe under the seat when unable to carry the firearm. It has an a/c adapter so it stays plugged in when on the nightstand, but also takes 4 AA batteries for backup or mobile use. My wife wears the RFID bracelet (included) to bed. In an emergency all she needs to do is get that bracelet near the safe and it pops open. We both placed a chip on the back of our cell phones for convenience to open the safe when being used in the car.

Plenty of space to hold a full sized handgun and an additional magazine or two. My XD9 and APX9 fit it in very well (one at a time) along with an extra mag. It comes with a bracelet, multiple sticky tabs and a keyfob which can all be programmed to open this safe and others like it, so you can buy multiple safes and place them all over your house and open them all with a single RFID device. It also supports key code access, the lid is spring mounted so it pops open very quickly, it comes with a tie down strap so a thief can't easily take your safe and it has both a wall plug and battery backup.
