I wasn't sure what type of safe to purchase...one like this one or a much heavier safe that someone would have needed to deliver and install. I'm glad I chose this one. This is perfect for a small place such as an apartment or keeping in a man cave. It has some weight to it so even if someone did want to walk off with it they couldn't without some type of fore knowledge of the safe and a plan. Especially if you mount it to the wall like I did. This thing is going no where unless they cut out the wall to go with it. It is top heavy so securing to the wall is a good idea. The finger print reader was very easy to set up as well as entering a code. You can turn the sound off by entering 3 then enter on the face of the dial. I have had this safe for almost one month now and have not had to setup the finger print reader or a new code since first installation. The finger print reader has been flawless reading my thumb very quickly and the first time every time. I took a little advise from other reviewers and added motion sensing lights to the inside. They are magnetic so no worries about using double sided tape or anything similar. They light up the safe and the little cabinet at the top very well. The safe arrived in only a few days after ordering it. I wasn't expecting it for another week when it was dropped off at my front door. There was slight damage to the box due to shipping. I thought it was normal due to the weight involved. Thanks to really good packing, there was no damage to the safe, not even a scratch. The price was good and customer support was fantastic. I received a card with the safe to email them and they sent me the door organizer for free just for contacting them. I now have multiple long guns and hand guns plus magazines nice and organized in one place. I have showed a couple of friends who were impressed with the design and quality of this safe. If you don't want to fork out a bunch of money for a very heavy safe that someone needs to use a machine to install, then look no further than this one.     • Excellent Start Safe and a Great Value

After a lot of research, high and low, I settled on the newer Moutec biometric safe to house my (1) long gun, ammo, accessories and pistol. This was an excellent choice. I did not want a professional safe to house my small collection, however needed to at least deter theft. Much heavier and beefier than I expected. Although I did just eat a cheese steak prior getting this into my house in a dolly, so...Fingerprint scanner was easy to set up, as was changing the numeric code straight away. Mine came with the foam barrel rests, but others looked like they got the plastic rest. At least you can cut the foam if needed, so I’m glad I got that. The lockable shelf is small but useful. I was able to fit all of my JHP in that for extra safekeeping. I added two motion sensor LED lights and a magnetic pistol holder under the shelf ledge. Sometimes I need to scan my finger twice—the unit will beep once and turn green but the lock won’t open. I suspect that I need to add more angles of my single print into the database to stop this from happening. Overall, a fantastic safe, and a great value as a first starter safe. While it does not have a fire or water rating, the range of opening options, the large open space and the lockable interior area more than makes up for it. Thumbs up! ... show more

I am writing this review to answer several questions I had before buying this safe. • How good finger print locker. Quite good. Only opens with the programmed fingers. • How sophisticated is the key. I would say 5 out of 10. • Internal design. Great • Packing. Great • How heavy is it? Two people can carry it. Once it is installed – one person can move it. • How many digit can you program the lock? I used 6. So you can add more than 4 number. 4 numbers only it is 256 options only. 6 is 4096. • Is there internal light? No. But it is OK. • How good are the Expansion Anchors screws? Bad quality and hard to use. I bought good ones in Lowes. 5/16 so I can bolt the safe from the inside. • Size? As advertised • How thick is the sheet metal? Very thin. • How much time will take an expert to break into this safe? 1min top. I wouldn’t put any jewelries in it or cash. You better hide the safe. • Why 4 stars? Currently the only compact safe for guns with biometric lock. ... show more
