The fit and finish of this reel is not that great but for cheap Chinese products that is to be expected I guess. But where it counts, it performs pretty well. It’s smooth and functioned flawlessly. Bought it for surf and jetty fishing. It was smaller than expected (probably closer to a 4000 or maybe 5000 in other brands) but it still worked for my needs. Fit and finish is equivalent to the budget reels you'll find at a big box store, though probably cheaper pricing with this. I ordered the DK5000, which is bigger than I was interested in for small bass fishing in freshwater. This is more like something for medium to larger catfish. Guess I just have to catch bigger fish. I did not expect much from a cheap reel from my past experiences with cheap fishing products, but this reel is impressive. I put 17 pound stren fishing line on it and have caught several 4 - 5 lb catfish with it and absolutely no issues. Very smooth , well built and looks pretty nice as well.

Largest 1000 size reel I've ever seen, easily a 2000. Out of the box it was stiffer than I prefer, so I gave it several drops of fishing reel oil, which loosened it up nicely. I'd have lubed it anyways, especially after reading reviews where the gears seized up, especially after salt water use. The folding handle joint on the handle might be a problem going forward. It is not snug when locked in place and has a bit of play in it. But what can one expect at this price? The bail snaps back nicely, not that it matters because I always close mine manually. It did spool 6 lb. mono evenly and the drag function has a good range. This reel will be used for fun and only a week or two annually, catching and releasing pink and coho salmon after daily harvesting is complete. If this reel fails on me I will definitely update this review. ... show more

The reels drag sometimes doesn't appear to engage well when reeling. Overall it is a good reel for the money, so I would buy again. I have been able to adjust the drag accordingly.
