I like to have a few telescoping rods for travel. This one is able to get the job done, but the setting power is a question mark. I was able to land a 24 inch lingcod after setting the hook with a 2 0z jig head, but that is likely past the outer limits of this rod. I bought the rod reel combo for surf perch fishing (mostly in the 1.5lb range, and that seems a better size for this rod. I imagine it would be great for Crappie or Small ocean fish like whitefish or croaker. Well made, but I put another reel on. Great price. Would give a solid reco.

Well packaged, branded box (inside amazon box), lotsa bubble wrap, nylon bag holding the rod and more bubble wrap encasing the reel, no damage. Reel seat is too wide to give solid purchase on the reel foot (may be mitigated with a thin strip of wood), the aluminum reel seat adjustment knob feels flimsy, the aluminum threads feel weak. reel spins smoother than melted butter, layers of grease will soon cover all moving internal parts and the reel seat threads and knob. Hard to understand why Sougayilang would manufacture the reel seat to be so much wider than the reel foot, to the tune of maybe a 1/4" gap total. telescopes easily enough both directions, more reports to come once some use has come.

Good rod until the tip broke used it to catch many bass I am probably going to super glue it back together but the flex on the rod is trash. I really like the spinning reel it’s cheap but quite effective. I ordered the shortest one and it fits in my bag like a charm. Overall great rod like the action and make sure to use it with braid line because the rod is quite small.

Yo my wife caught a 10 lb Jack corvina fishing out back of my house with this small rod if your stream fishing this is the set up you want but if your gonna go ocean get the bigger one ...honestly people buy this combo I think the rod is small for me but perfect for her she's 5'2" so it's short ...I was using this reel on a 8 foot rod getting 50 meter/yard casts
