  • BEST Bang For Your Buck! AMAZING Apple CarPlay Stereo
Color: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
The media could not be loaded. Sony XAVAX1000 Review & Install on 2007 Hyundai Elantra: I was a little skeptical of this unit and have always been skeptical of aftermarket units as I think they're ugly, of terrible quality and a pain in the a** to use. This Sony unit checks ALL the boxes + more. The interface is beautiful, simple and EASY to navigate unlike most aftermarket units. Apple CarPlay works SEAMLESSLY and flawlessly. Connecting a backup camera was EASY and my unit looks so good mounted into the license plate light (all links for what I needed are listed below). I was worried I wouldn't like the USB port next to the screen but it really doesn't bother me other than the look isn't great but it was better than routing a USB port somewhere else and way simpler + this unit has AUX if you need it. My only complaint is that the touch screen is capacitive and it's kind of old school. Granted you're not touching it much and it works just fine, it's just not as nice as say a high quality glass or plastic display with resistive touch. That being said, I purchased an open box unit from Amazon in perfect condition-sealed for $250 so I have ZERO complaints. I had a hard time figuring out how everything would come together for a 2007-2010 Elantra but below are all the items I needed that made for a perfect install. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this unit and setup and could not be happier. It looks great, it has a REAL volume knob, Apple CarPlay is kick a** and I have a backup camera mounted to look OEM! I HIGHLY recommend this unit! • Works great in an old Ford Econoline van
Color: 9” with Apple Carplay & Android Auto Size: 9” with Apple Carplay & Android Auto Style: Media Receiver
I have an 87 Ford Econoline converted for offroading/overlanding. I have long looked at 1-din units with screens trying to find something that would fit correctly in my van's dash. The space is tight and the area is perfectly vertical with overhang at the top. Super awkward. But this radio was the perfect solution and I couldn't be happier. Words can not express how unique this product is. I have yet to find anything else that attempts to provide dynamic screen mounting. Thankfully Sony also made a generally good radio to go along with it. Pros: - Clean and effective interface - Good sound quality - Modern feature set including Android Auto and Apple Carplay via USB - Amazingly adjustable display mounting - Vibrant and responsive touch screen - Decent USB connectivity features Cons: - I dont have XM and I'd like to remove the menu icon but can not - Limited bluetooth range, I used to walk around the van with my phone in my pocket no prob - No audio input port and no CD player Notes: - It took me a while to figure out why the parking break wire was relevant. Android Auto requires that the parking break is set before you can configure it. I haven't had any functional parking break wiring in decades. If you're in the same situation, you just want to ground that wire. ... show more

  • Good Unit & Pretty Easy Install
Color: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
The installation of this unit was pretty straightforward. You WILL want to get an installation kit for your specific vehicle and if you want to make the install easier, I would also get a vehicle specific wiring harness adapter and a parking brake bypass. Those 3 things along with this radio unit make it a fairly easy install. Biggest issue I ran into on my 2000 F-250 was not shaving enough of the top and bottom factory bracket off. That had nothing to do with this product. Overall, I’d give this product an excellent rating as far as sound quality and user interface. I like that there is an actual dial to turn for volume, rather than some buttons or touch screen ‘buttons’. This is a good upgrade to my 20+ year old truck. It’s only been a week (as of 4/7/21), so I will update if anything negative arises. ... show more

  • Definitely Worth the Price
Color: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Size: 6.2” with Apple Carplay Style: Media Receiver
I bought 3 other stereos before I bought the Sony XAV-AX1000. All of them had negatives that I found annoying enough to spend money on a different stereo. The Kenwood DMX7705S had great sound, but it has buttons for volume control, which I didn't know I didn't like yet. It also didn't dim in low light, so driving at night was a pain till I turned the brightness down manually. The Seicane (no model number) had good sound, but couldn't pick up one AM channel no matter how many times I tried, or where i was. The interface is based on Android, and configured as a car stereo, but not by much. Not exactly terrible, but not great either. The top of the line Dual (a line of "inexpensive" stereos) had a fairly good, basic interface, the FM reception was good, but AM was spotty at the very best, and when I connected a usb stick with music, the screen started resetting and wouldn't stay steady till I removed the usb stick. Contrast all of that with the Sony. It has very good sound, radio reception is very good on both AM and FM, and no problem with the usb functions. The interface is basic, but complete, and easy to use. It's not all sex, drugs, and rock and roll though. If you want to add your own background to the display, you're out of luck. That's it, I'd like to see a few changes to the software (hold the band selector (FM1, FM2, AM1, AM2) to get a list, let us add backgrounds, the ability to move stuff around in the interface), but really, this stereo is very satisfying just as it is. Thumbs up, Sony. You've done a good job, but don't rest on your laurels, upgrade to keep pace! ... show more
