Description

10-18 mm super wide-angle zoom lensThe SEL-1018 offers a constant maximum aperture of F4 through the entire focal length range, enabling use of the widest aperture at every focal length. Even in low-light environments, such as outdoors at sunset, users will be able to take advantage of the bright aperture and use fast shutter speeds without unnecessarily raising ISO sensitivity.Minimum focal length of 10 mm (15 mm in 35 mm eq.)Thanks to a minimum focal length of only 10 mm (15 mm in 35 mm-camera equivalency), the SEL-1018 delivers finely detailed, super wide-angle photos, ideal for shooting majestic landscapes that can only be captured with super wide-angle lenses, as well as for producing striking photos with emphasized perspective.Superb image capturing capabilityThree Aspherical lens elements correct for spherical aberration and distortion, making it possible to shoot high-contrast, high- quality images with markedly less bleeding even at the maximum aperture. In addition, the optical system employs Super Extra-low Dispersion glass, realizing highly detailed images with reduced color aberration even at the 10 mm focal length.Built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilizationThe built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system provides a 4-stop (approx.) shutter speed advantage, making it significantly easier to achieve crisp, blur-free images and video.Internal Focusing SystemLens elements at the rear of the optical system move, allowing rapid auto-focus response.Circular ApertureIn low-light shots or nightscapes, out-of-focus light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.

  • A Superwide Zoom?! One Fantastically Useful Lens!
I had no idea there was such a thing as a superwide zoom. I shoot with Sony APS-Cs. This lens is formulated to cover only the half-frame and will vignette a full-frame. It is equivalent to 15--27mm and is sharp throughout its range. It holds f/4.0 throughout its range. I have paired it with my also new Sony SEL1670Z Vario-Tessar T E 16-70mm F4 ZA OSS. Together they overlap to give me from 15mm to 105mm, a wonderfully useful range. I have absolutely no complaints about this Superwide zoom. I process in Lightroom, and Adobe already had the lens in their roster so lens corrections are automatically applied at import. If the lens has any distortions they are not visible, certainly not after corrections are applied. Its autofocus is fast and accurate which is a plus with a lens this short since it's harder to get critical focus when the image is very small. I absolutely recommend it. ... show more

  • Finally in the big league!
I heard so much about this lens and needed a lens for wide angled shots in real estate!

  • Did you know this lens is also a 12-18mm f/4 OSS
I have had and used this lens since 2015 when landscaper photographer Trey Ratciff did a video showing how it works also in Full Frame at 12mm two full years before Sony coming out with the 12-24mm f/4 G, that by the way is a huge tank of a lens needing a filter holder up front that also uses large glass plate filters. This lens was made a year before the famous A7 line of cameras and made for the APS-C line of cameras that Sony first made. This lens is a 15-27mm lens on APS-C camera which is a super wide on a APS-C. Yes f/4, OSS, Treads up front for filters lastly so small it will fit in a pocket. The best thing is Sony with it's mirrorless cameras had a setting for Auto APS-C but when turned off and remaining in full frame you get clear and sharp 12mm to 18mm (18mm if you remove the rear light shield.), just do not use the up front tulip light shield. This lens I used for wide Astro Milky Ways a f/4 lens can capture at 30s and still get pinpoint stars in the corners All images used on the A7SM1 ... show more
