I am giving this sound bar 5 stars, but with reservations. It is compact and not overly large. It fits on my mantle under the mounted tv. This is the second sound bar sent to me. The first one only worked a few days before I had to call Sony and troubleshoot it to find out it was defective. The price was good, however I had to pay UPS to return it to Amazon. I was told I would recoup the loss but as of yesterday that credit had not shown up in my account. First: pros- sleek, lightweight, good sound, good pricing, several ways to connect, seamless hookup with remotes, TVs, streaming devices, good sound. - Cons: I turn my tv off at night and then when I want to watch again, the sound bar won’t work. I am forever having to unplug the bar, tv, and fire stick to have any audio. This does not make sense. There is notations of the bar going into mute when you turn the device off, and it depending on what configuration you start up again, ie: tv first, sound bar first, streaming device, etc., it can go into mute mode. This is ridiculous. You want, or at least I do, one remote for everything so you don’t have to keep up with remotes for each device. I have a Sharp, interactive smart tv, and use a fire stick for my “cable”. I have no choice as I use the “gig” internet and that provider for my cable channels. My provider encourages you to use your own devices to receive the channels they offer so for us it’s the fire stick for cable and streaming. This should not be the problem with the bar not connecting and/or going into mute mode because of you turning your tv on. Since the description of this sound bar uses the seamless hookup as one of the advantages of purchasing this product, the manufacturer should design it to come on and work, regardless of what sequence your remote turns all the devices on. Amazon replaced the first unit (had it about two weeks, one using it, one trying to figure out what was wrong). Sony was good at troubleshooting but was no help at replacing the unit, even with me supplying the invoice, etc. After the troubleshooting, and me providing the invoice by email, I never heard from Sony again, so any compliment I give for customer service is to Amazon, which had me a new one ASAP. I might note that this didn’t start happening until this week. We have had the replacement only about two weeks now, so this occurrence may possibly be another defective unit. I bought a protection plan because of the reviews about this product. I maybe should have just bought another product than this one. Independent analysis of sound bars at the time I purchased the first one had this one as #1. I will update later if I continue to have to reboot everything to get it to work. I forgot to mention I am using the HDMI-ARC hookup which is the one suggested. Update: I think I found the answer on Sony’s website. Using an option on the remote - ie:voice - turns the HDMI-ARC option off. Since that is my connection method unconsciously I have been muting for restarting my connection, when trying to set the bar for better voice, less background. I have had this for nearly two months and definitely can hear speech better with this sound bar. A great exhibition of this sound bar was on full display this weekend. We had friends visiting and decided to check out the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. I am not a Swift fan but like at least six of her songs. The first 35 minutes of this performance (Disney+) seemed to be quite "muddy." I chalked it up to the fact that it was a big sports arena and not a music hall. I was unimpressed by the whole thing except for a fascination that someone could sing for a solid 3 hours!!! I then look at the remote and see there is a equalizer setting for "MUSIC". I pressed it and we were all transported to the concert. It was unbelievable the difference and the quality of a soundbar in this price range. This was money well spent. The next day we watched the first 40 minutes again and definitely enjoyed it much more. As a test, we turned off the sound bar and just listened to what the Samsung 65 QLED could do and it was not anywhere close to the sound bar set on "MUSIC." ... show more

    • Slow boot, some crackles, but decent sound and loudness
Ordered several soundbars for our new 75” LG tv in the basement. Our basement is fairly large so I didn’t expect any 2.0 soundbar to fill the room but this little thing surprises me. So the good first since I’m on the topic. After an easy connection to the tv via hdmi arc, this soundbar clearly had better sound and was louder than the other 2 bars I was evaluating. This was surprising since all the soundbars I order were rated roughly 120 watts. The low end of the volume were all similar but this one out shine the others at top volume. It was no comparison. I tested music (from YouTube), an action movie (from Netflix) and a streaming tv show. All tests were done without modification to the default settings of the bars (minus the sound volume). Bass, dialogue, and ambient noises were all acceptable relative to their respective media played. Note: this bar is pretty basic. It doesn’t claim to support various high end audio features but that didn’t seem to affect its performance. Now onto the bad. On initial connection, the device did exhibit a bit of a crackle. Our basement is super quiet so any noise is noticeable. The crackle did go away once sound actually began to come out of the bar. I’ll monitor this to see if it’s an issue that continues and is cause for concern. The bar also did loose audio once upon boot up which required a reboot of both the tv and the bar. Not sure why that happened but is note worthy and will also monitor that for frequency of occurrence. The last (and largest) issue is the boot up time of the bar. No audio will be outputted (tho the led lights appear to be completely on) when the bar is started up with the tv for a range of 10-20 seconds. I was not expecting such a delay. None of the other bars I’m evaluating has such a long delay before audio is output post power up. I can foresee this being a stumbling issue for my kids who will immediately turn up the volume if the tv is on and no sound comes out. If we keep this bar, it may have to be something we’d have to live with for on the tv in the basement. All in all, this seems to be the keeper of the 3 bars I’m evaluating. The media could not be loaded. The difference between the Sony and the old off brand is astounding the old one at full volume doesn't even come close to the sony at 1/4 volume! using the same optical output line The dialog is clear, set-up was easy -plug and play- the quality good as far as I can tell. It looks like the stock photos sleek and modern. IMO if your thinking about doing an inexpensive upgrade for an ailing soundbar try this, Am I still going to get a hearing test? at my age yes, have a great day. *The old soundbar had a (10w2 X 10wx2) not a misspelling vs The Sony 120w no caparison.
