  • Unmatched Comfort and Immersive Sound with a Touch of Genius
Having transitioned from the Sennheiser HD6xx to the Sony MDR-MV1, I've noticed a substantial improvement in how I enjoy music, especially during long listening sessions. Here's why the MDR-MV1 stands out: Comfort That Lasts: What sets the MDR-MV1 apart for me is its unparalleled comfort. The headphones are light, significantly reducing the strain on my head and ears, a stark contrast to the HD6xx's tighter clamp. This gentle yet secure fit allows me to listen for hours without the discomfort or headaches I used to face. Expansive Soundstage: Sound-wise, the MDR-MV1 impresses with a wider soundstage that brings a new dimension to my music. It's as if I'm in the room with the artists, surrounded by sound that's rich and full of depth. A Touch of Genius: A detail I particularly appreciate is the small bump on the left ear cup. This clever feature makes it easy to identify the left and right sides by touch alone, streamlining the user experience with a simple yet effective solution. ... show more

  • Bye-Bye MDR-V6 & HD-280 Pro, Hello MDR-MV1!
Sony MDR-MV1 headphones just kicked my old V6 and HD-280 to the audio curb! 🎶 The sound quality is mind-blowing – no doubt, no competition. I usually use my Genelec monitors for mixing, but I find these are more accurate as the room doesn't influence my mix. These are a tremendous value for the money. ... show more

  • If you don't mind being connected to a wire...
My previous Sony headphones were bluetooth enabled. They had a lot of cool functions that allowed me to connect to my phone, manipulate my music, and more. Sometimes when I'm working at my station, I just get up and go. These are my first wired set, so I just have to get used to taking them off when I need to walk around. I also bought a connector to use it with my phone. So that's nice. But I have to stuff all the wire length somewhere when I'm out and about. While I can hear what's going on around me, having a noise cancelling feature would be nice. With all that said, I mostly use it specifically for the audio aspect of my work. When I'm at my work station, it's everything! ... show more

  • Sureal soundscape experience in extreme comfort!
I love these headphones! They are unbelievably lightweight and comfortable with plenty of room in the ear cups where my ears never feel cramped. The separation, clarity, and texture of sounds they produce blows my mind. I am primarily comparing the Sony MV1 to my much loved Beyerdynamics DT 700 Pro X although I have also owned and used ATH M50x and AKG 361. These Sony headphones are significantly more expensive though so the question I had going in was could they really be worth the higher price tag to someone like me? I work from home and listen to music for at least 5-6 hours most days. So I value comfort above all and a pleasant listening experience over strict technicalities. I have really enjoyed my Beyerdynamics but due to being a closed-back, heavier, and the round earcups I would experience slight discomfort after 2-3 hours. Not something I even realized until I got the Sony MV1. These I could wear for 10 hours straight! They are that light and comfortable. The headband pad feels incredibly soft and very premium. The slider adjustments stay put. The earcups are some kind of magical memory foam that perfectly formed to my head the first time I put them on. I also am growing to prefer the 3.5mm output vs the mini-xlr of my Beyerdynamics. It is just really convenient to be able to use a standard cable when I am away from my desk. The screw on end of the included cable is very secure and looks great when I am at my desk. I am still early in my audiophile journey and learning and experimenting so I can't possibly do justice to the soundscape experience that these headphones provide. The texture and separation and placement of sound absolutely gives me chills though. I received the Sony MV1 in order to review them. I seriously doubt I would have purchased them at list price without having tried them first. I was highly skeptical that they could be that much better of a listening experience for a non-professional user like me. Past the point of diminishing returns right? Wrong! After owning these headphones for about 2 weeks now I am completely won over!!! I would absolutely pay full list price for a replacement if something ever happened to this pair. I am even considering selling my Beyerdynamics DT 700 Pro X which is something I wouldn't have thought possible. tl;dr unreal comfort and sound experience that is worth every penny!!! ... show more

  • These are a dream. They are light, comfortable, and sound incredible
These are truly like strapping studio monitors to your head, but comfortable. They are exceptionally light and easy to wear for an extended period of time. Every pair of headphones, cheap or expensive I've tried ultimately end up giving me a headache due to pressure. These are the only headphones that I can wear for hours on end. The sound is phenomenal. I use reference monitors daily, but have been disappointed with the uneven sound from most headphones. The sound reproduction on these headphones is fantastic, escpecially for an open back headphone. I still feel immersed in sound with deep, rich, authentic bass and across the spectrum. Vocals are not as 'in your face' as some other monitors and headphones that are mid-range heavy which makes for a far more enjoyable listening experience. The build quality is excellent, but mostly plastic. This contributes to the exceptionally light weight (weighing in at about 8oz), but may not last in a rough environment or tossed in a bag. However, these are considered professional studio monitors, so they aren't expecting significant abuse. I expect an average person just looking for headphones for their streaming apps or gaming might not enjoy these the way an audiophile or someone engaged in audio production or studio work, but then, general home use is not the target market. Absolutely recommend. ... show more
