  • Good features but limited functionality Good features but limited functionality
Color: Black
I have TWO pairs of these headphones. I apologize for how messy my ear tips look and my original device. The good: - you have a bluetooth and mp3 player mode (you have to pick one) - can pair with 1 bluetooth device at a time - is water proof (even salt water proof; hence why sony includes the silicon tips don't ignore that) - can be an mp3 player in a world where stand alone players are a luxury - can last 8 hours if used only as an mp3 player The bad: - you have a bluetooth and mp3 player mode (you have to pick one; you may not like this) - no LDAC, AAC, etc. Just normal SBC - files MUST be mp3 (no ogg, m4a, flac, alac, etc) - the mic echoes or catches ambient noise on the side of the person you are speaking too (noise canceling is just for you) - the mic will break if you dive with these after a few weeks/months - the contacts will rust after 3 years of use in salt and fresh water (please see the light green on the contacts in the picture on the golden charging contacts on the inside of the band) - lasts about 6 hours connected as a BT headset I have learned to love my headsets based on the features they provide for me even though there is no LDAC or AAC support. In spite of the lack of HD audio, this player provides a very welcomed feature in modern day where I can pair it with my phone but then just ignore the phone and listen to music. The mp3 requirement is a hassle I wish Sony was okay with OGG or even M4A as this allows us to put in more music with less file size given the hard 4 gb (realistically 3.4 Gb) storage limit. Its also the only certifiably salt water proof mp3 player. The silicon tips really help prevent corrosion in the driver. The reason why I have two is because after using one pair in the pool and ignoring this care requirement, the driver on the left side (where water would mostly go in) would leak into the driver and now makes the sound a little unbalanced. if you must ignore the silicon tip advice sony provides to hear your music more loudly under the water, I would suggest looking for some triple flange earbud tips. The three flanges prevent water from leaking into your ear, nice, and also prevent water from seeping into the driver also. You want to get the ones with the opening pictured here because while it may seem like they won't fit the sony mp3 player, they will its silicone and its meant to stretch. You want a really right fit on the bud as well as your ears to ensure a good seal to prevent water but also have a decent level of loudness when doing lap swimming. ... show more

  • Old reliable and improved.
Color: Black
My old one died after a few years. Buttons, I think. Or at least that's what a consensus of reviewers implicate. I tried replacing the old Sony with a highly rated bone conduction unit. Just awful. I use this for listening to audiobooks while I do laps. The thing was unintelligible and changed volume and quality every time my head cleared the surface. The experience was sufficient to motivate me to pay the extra for this newer Sony. Back to old reliable now with two notable improvements. 1.) Bluetooth. Useless in the water but works just fine on land. 2.) Loud mode. Because the headset is pushing the sound through membranes on the waterproof earbuds, it's greatly attenuated. Plus my ears are no longer young. I used to get around this by running my audiobook mp3's through a volumizer app to up the output at the source. With this new version, in LOUD mode, I no longer have to pre+process the files. Maybe loud is to strong a word but it's now at least loud enough underwater that I can hear the story without enhancement. I just hope Sony keeps making this. Even if the buttons fail every 3 years, I'll keep replacing this because for audiobooks, there's nothing that matches it's functionality. And I'm talking about it's ability to store mp3 tracks in nested folders and easily navigate track to track, chapter to chapter, and book to book. You're not stuck being reliant on mp3 tags and playlists like with most players which invariably get your files jumbled and simply don't work for books. ... show more

  • Didn't last more than 3 lap swims!
Color: Black
I thought this was the best waterproof headset I ever used, and I've had several different ones. The sound was fantastic, it had lots of nice features and it was easy to use. Unfortunately, it only lasted three swims in the pool I don't dive, or swim under water, I only swim with my head above water, it still gets wet but doesn't stay under water, so I don't know what went wrong. I had to send it back within 30 days of purchase. ... show more

  • Finally Earbuds I Can Swim With Finally Earbuds I Can Swim With
Color: Black
I swim a lot in the summer but it's hard to listen to music. These are the answer. Completely waterproof. Very reasonable price point. Holds more files than you could ever need and easy to load. Comes with several different bud covers so you will find one that fits your ear. Comes with regular and "swimming" although it's hard to tell the difference. The fit is a little difficult. I have a small head and small ears, so the unit doesn't fit snug. It comes with a little rubber band "adaptor" that kind of shortens up the cord to make it fit better, not snug, but it doesn't move at all. Also does not fit around my ears. Smaller sizes would be welcome. Buds stay in my ears just fine while swimming, and the sound is phenomenal!!! Be aware that the unit can not Bluetooth in the water, and you can only load mp3 files. The only other downside is that the controls are small and very close together and easily pushed by mistake. Something to get used to. Comes with charging port which is a bit unwieldy but again, just need to get used to it. I highly recommend if you really like to listen to something while you swim! ... show more

  • Perfect bluetooth headphones for exercise or daily commute
Color: White
First thing you find is that the headphone is featherweight, its the perfect headphones for exercise, or anywhere. People forget how awesome Sony's ergonomics are before Apple blankets the market with its advertising machine. Beats are horrible in comparison, those other pairs are going to the garbage. Its not as ugly and obnoxious as AirPods, the Sony neckstrap make sure you don't drop the buds like the Apple ones, its really bad design on Apple's in my opinion. It comes with four different sizes of earbuds, the default one fits perfectly on its first use. I'm an average person, so I guess they did their research properly. If you head is slightly smaller, they include a rubber strap that shortens the cord to fit. Quick charge is really quick, other off brands make you wait 1.5 hours, this one takes 3 minutes! The 4GB built-in player is good if you don't have your phone with you. Only negative is that the charger port has a bevel edge that prevents thicker usb cords, but the included one does work. Nice thing is a short usb cord, so it takes up less room when you travel. I haven't tried the waterproof feature with you. It does have a big warning to not use it when you are showering with soap. Price wise, its slightly pricey, but I would pay for the design over other brands. It works and it workers better than other premium bluetooth headphones. Don't know how they cram so much in such tiny package, NFC, bluetooth, mp3 player. They all work well. ... show more

  • I really wanted to like these....
Color: Black
I've had these headphones for about 3 months now. I've given them a fair amount time, and I'm going to move onto something else. I bought these for stand up paddleboarding, so I can't comment how good/bad they are for swimming, but i do need a set that is waterproof. I also want mp3 capability because sometimes I just don't want my phone with me. Paddling is something I do to get away from my phone.... First off, I had low expectations for sound quality. any sound transmission is going to be compromised by water proofing and it's not like streaming or MP3 sound hi-fidelity to begin with. These sound marginal, but seriously, that's kind of ok. Battery life, it manageable, but not awesome. I have to recharge every other workout. The worst part is you don't really get a warning, nor can you tell how much charge you have left. Having your headset die in the middle of a work out is a bummer. The real deal killer here is that I just don't feel safe wearing them. First ambient sound mode only works while streaming. Second the swimming buds really block out to much of what is happening around me, namely boats and jetskis. Granted, I've been hit by a careless jetskier once, so I'm a bit nervous on a good day. I keep the volume really low, and try to keep one but only partially inserted, but it's just not worth it, I can't really hear the music wearing them this way. These just don't work for me. ... show more

  • Good product
Color: Black
I use these for swimming laps in our community pool. I first had set of head phones from another manufacturer that were bone conducting technology. I liked them but they quit working after about 3 months. I used 4 pair in one year until the manufacturer warranty ended. I bought the Sony pair and foung the sound quality was way superior to my prvious pair. When you use the water proof ear buds the volume is a little lower but that is fine. I was told that they would come off during swimming when you push off the wall. Has not been a problem at all. ... show more

  • The best waterproof walkman out there
Color: Black
I've owned 5 Sony waterproof walkmans in the past 10 years. They change design every time I get a new one. The one I bought in 2022 is the best in terms of sound quality and fit. Perfect for swimming and showering. Don't shampoo while wearing it though. It's great that you can save songs in it to listen while away from phone swimming. Bluetooth is great in shower or working out near phone. I love the hard buttons on this instead of touch gestures like the other brands which get pressed unintentionally. One of the best gadgets I've had in my life. If they ever decide to stop making it, I'm literally gonna buy like 10 of it to last until I get old and deaf lol. Totally worth the price. It's not brand premium, you pay for the quality and functionality. ... show more
