  • These are amazing
As a photographer, you don't want to get to a shoot with a low battery and no backup. That has not been an issue with these batteries. I can shoot a wedding one weekend and still have enough power left to shoot another the following weekend. But I always start at 100% by swapping out that morning and charge the other back up, not taking a chance. ... show more

  • High Quality Battery for Sony DSLRs
I use mine on the Sony slt-a57, and am very happy with it's performance. As I own a number of cameras, including a number of point and shoots, I have experience with both brand, OEM, and third-party batteries. My own experience has left me with the feeling that, for many point and shoot cameras, if a good quality third-party battery is available, they can be used as "backup" batteries, and that's exactly the approach I've ended up using: purchase two of the brand batteries, but then purchase also one or two of the third-party batteries to carry with me if I run out of power on the brand batteries during a long day of shooting. Since the third-party batteries can cost up to 80% off of the brand batteries, this is a pretty economical approach. But for DSLR cameras, I've found that, for me, it is best to stick with the brand batteries, because they tend to be more reliable in operation, tend to have longer life cycles, have a dependable charge for maximum shooting on location, and tend to work properly with the camera's computer-based battery readouts (such as Sony's battery icon display, as well as the estimated amount of minutes display, both of which can have trouble with third-party batteries). They are indeed more expensive, but they can be relied upon to a greater extent. Sony's NPFM500H battery here is a bit hefty compared to earlier variants, but it has an excellent charge capability. In fact, it seems so good that I doubt I'll purchase more than two extra copies, because it seems unlikely that I would go through three of them in a single day of shooting. Two might even be enough, but I like to have a backup of my backup! The battery is a genuine Sony, and you know that because the battery arrives in a blister pack that must be cut open, and contains the Sony factory hologram, so it's about as sure as you can be that this is a genuine Sony battery. Five stars. Note: Remember that, if you are shooting in freezing conditions (or even near freezing conditions) the amount of shots you can take from a fully charged battery may drop quite significantly. This is not a flaw of the battery, but is generally true of all batteries used in these conditions. ... show more

  • This is not from Sony
This battery is not from Sony... or maybe it is but the little paper that came in the packaging asked me in very very broken English to please write this review because business was so tough in Amazon. Well, regardless of who the seller really is, the product has worked for me and I am happy. EDIT: After using this the second and third time, it has been dead when I needed it. I have been out on shoots and when my primary battery was down to about 10% I went to swap batteries but this one was dead. I had put it on the charger the night before and pulled it off just as I left for my gig. This battery has done this to me twice. I just purchased a "real" Sony battery on here used as my new backup. This will now be my 3rd battery. It does work sometimes, but I never trust it for a paying gig now. ... show more

  • A must have for Alpha users
This battery will work on A200,A300,A350 and A700. A second battery is a must for those who covering events and traveling. One full charge can easily last for more than 300+ shots with frequent checking on photos at LCD. I took this as a backup battery when I travel. I seldom use flash, so I guess the battery will finish up faster if more flashing is used. One big advantage of having secondary battery is that you are dare to use all of the electric charge in the battery until the last bit because you knew there is a fully charged battery as spare. For an example, you ask yourself, "Do I need to charge my battery?", when you plan to go out with your camera with 40% left of your battery. If you don't charge, you may miss a moment because your battery is dried. If you charge, you have a fully charged battery but you wasted your battery lifetime and charge cycle, because you will charge more often. You are not utilizing the battery charge until it is 0%. A big recommend to all Alpha users who frequently travel and cover an event. ... show more

  • The Real Thing
This appears to be the real deal (Sony original). (mine: "Sold by: Unique Photo, Inc" -- I mention vendor, because sometimes vendor matters. ) Charged up nicely to max minutes -- displays as expected. Also -- as advertised "Capacity Has Been Increased By 3% Over Previous Model" -- I do see some additional minutes I never attained with the original battery that came with the camera. Charge is holding nicely. I have had mixed luck with ordering these via other offers/sellers. IE: One claimed to be OEM, packaging was new/convincing, but performance just wasn't there. Some other other offers exist for replacement (non OEM, non Sony) and aren't too bad at all (pls see my other reviews). But if you're squeemish about non-Sony replacements, then I have to tell you I am pleased with this purchase - it's a champ. ... show more

  • Oops My Bad! It Does work as advertised
Well all, I must take back my bad review of this product. Turns out that I was mistaken when I stated the percentage was not displayed on my monitor. I actually took the battery out and installed it only in my camera (A77). Guess what? The percentage number of the battery life appeared on my display as designed. Turns out the camera, which I forgot only displays the percentage of the active battery and not the spare. The system will show the remaining of the spare when it becomes the active battery. So I highly recommend this vendor and the battery. BTW, I found this out after I asked for a replacement. Needless to say I was not able to cancel the new battery that is on the way. So I just may keep them both. ... show more
