  • no date
The Lithium Ion battery and/or packaging do not have a date on them. Because Li-ion batteries fail to hold a charge with age, I cannot tell whether the battery I received is of recent manufacture, or was manufactured in 2014, the date of the copywrite on the packaging. I do not want to pay the high price for a 4 year old battery given how significantly Li Ion batteries degrade due to calendar aging. ... show more

  • Authentic Battery
At first I thought I received old batteries or a very elaborate counterfeit because the copyright information is from 2014 in addition to some weird English on the package. Plus, after watching a YT video comparing a genuine Sony battery with a fake, it looked like some information was missing on the back. Decided to bite the bullet and open one up to compare with the battery that came with my new RX100 and I'm glad I did. Camera battery is on the left and what came in the package is on the right. Both feature the same type of hologram on the side of battery that shows the serial number, SONY, L, and R when you view it from different angles. Will be testing batteries some more so I'll update if there are differences. ... show more

  • Very Poor Battery Life but Fine Otherwise
I have no idea how many months or years one of these batteries will last. I haven't owned them long enough. But when it comes to in-the-field use, you'll need two or three of them to shoot all day. They're small and easily carried, which is good news, because you'll need to carry several. Typical of many batteries used in digital gadgetry, they either operate very well or not at all. In the midst of shooting, the "Battery Exhausted" message pops up, and by "Exhausted" it means stone-cold dead. You can't squeeze even one more shot out of it. Fortunately, you can easily pop in a freshly charged battery and get on with your day. "Value for Money?" Having something that works well, when it works at all is worth a lot. You'll have to judge for yourself whether they're worth the money. ... show more

  • Original Sony Equipment - Top Quality for Top Dollar
This battery is Sony's usual excellent quality product, at Sony's usual high prices. I recommend getting at least one original manufacturer's (OEM) spare battery for high-end cameras and equipment; they generally provide the best reliability and highest capacity for their rating. The cheaper third-party batteries often have less capacity or a shorter service life; they're fine for backup or emergency use, but as primary batteries you have to carry - and charge, and keep track of - more of them. The OEM batteries cost more money up front, but less in time and trouble later on. ... show more

  • Still the Best Choice, Albeit More Costly, for Your Sony Camera ...
I have used Wasabi batteries previously, but when I upgraded to a Sony RX100 VII I found that Wasabi quality had deteriorated. Luckily the Amazon Warehouse had two nearly new "Sony NP-BX1/M8 Lithium-Ion X Type Batteries" for a very reasonable price when compared to the OEM batteries. These work extremely well and last far longer than the off brands. While I prefer the lower price of the generic batteries, I have decided their shorter life is not worth risking missing photos because they lost power rapidly during a shoot. ... show more

  • This is the Real McCoy!
Must be the Sony OEM original because the charge lasts the whole day, unlike some cheap knockoffs I have bought in the past.....(and the knockoffs are made to look just like the real thing so you really don't know what you are buying.....)

  • Don't waste your money on generic batteries! Go OEM!
After struggling for months with the crappy off-brand batteries, I finally decided to get an OEM Sony replacement for us in my RX100IV. I never have to worry about running out of power at a crucial moment or having to endlessly recharge "Dead" batteries. It's not worth saving $10 bucks in your $1000 camera. ... show more

  • Bad luck with this battery
This is the second battery I purchased. The first one did not work so I exchanged it. Second one does not work either. Both batteries are identical to the original batter that came with my camera. So I have no idea how to identify the problem but I won't be ordering any more batteries online.
