  • Phenomenal picture after you adjust settings
Size: 65 in Style: TV Only Configuration: XR Full Array
I love this TV. The picture quality pops. The blacks are very black, and in particular, movies look extraordinary on this thing. This is after adjusting the picture settings. I recommend looking on reddit for recommended picture settings or just testing it out yourself. Initially, out of the box, the picture was underwhelming but it’s glorious now that I have it tuned up right. One thing is this TV looks best when viewed straight on. Basically the way the screen works, if you look at it from a heavy side angle, it still looks alright but it’s not gonna be as amazing as if you’re watching it from directly in front of the screen. There is blooming. I wouldn’t have noticed it or known what “blooming” is without reading about TVs too much online, lol. Generally I barely ever know it’s there and it’s so faint most the time, it’s hardly worth a mention for most casual tv users. The worst thing about the TV is there are ads for apps you need to pay for. I’d like a more customizable main screen as I’m not wasting money on subscriptions to a dozen content providers. The sound is passable, not extraordinary. The picture quality IS extraordinary and with Sony, you’re paying for that and build quality. The seller sent from facility in Kentucky and shipping was way faster than estimated. Overall: 5/5 excellent purchase and highly recommend ... show more

  • Great TV but plagued by connectivity issues
I love this TV. It’s not perfect but it delivered the best bang for the buck. I would have had to spend an additional $1k+ for a step up in quality and for the marginal improvements that just wasn’t worth it to me. So I’m definitely happy with this purchase but wanted to also note that the other reviews that mention connectivity issues are definitely correct. But it doesn’t just drop the Wi-Fi but also somehow periodically loses internet connection when connected via wired LAN. I’ve tried both WiFi and wired connections and both of them experience this issue. Sometimes it happens after less than a day other times it will stay connected for a week or so but eventually it always loses its internet connection. There is nothing wrong with my WiFi network and nothing wrong with the cabling or switch I have for the wired connection. No other devices experience this problem. I’ve seen this problem mentioned here, on Sony support forums, and on the Bravia subreddit. Yet Sony will only provided their boilerplate troubleshooting steps which do nothing. It’s probably something that a firmware update could resolve but I’m not holding my breath waiting for that as there has been no acknowledgment that this is a widespread issue. I can reconnect to internet with a restart from the System menu so it’s not the worst thing ever. But it does kind of stink having to wonder whether or not that will be necessary every single time I turn on the tv. Oh well, it could be worse. Edit: I believe I have resolved the internet connectivity issue. For me the solution seems to have been to enable "Simple IP control": Settings -> Network and Internet -> Home network -> IP control -> Simple IP control I think this setting is for being able to control the tv with third party Wi-Fi remotes like the Elan. Which makes some sense that it would need to keep the connection alive so that such a remote could turn it on. What doesn't make as much sense is the inscrutable name for this setting and the lack of any details about what it does. In any event, this fix was quite "simple" once I knew what to do and Sony Support should really have this response bookmarked as this is an extremely common frustration, I've seen this problem all over the interwebs. ... show more

  • Great TV
Best picture for the money, blacks are pretty good compared to the Samsung I bought (and returned) but you’re not getting an OLED so there is still light emission in the black parts of the screen. Speakers were great for a flatscreen but I still plugged into sound system. Remote has a lot of good features but I ended up getting a universal remote similar to the remote for a fire stick, easier to use with the sound system I have. I’ve had this TV for 9 months and have enjoyed many hours of entertainment with no complaints. ... show more
