Features 5
- The full force of Sonys latest lens technology brings stunning G Master resolution and exquisite bokeh together in the worlds lightest2 Full Frame F2.8 constant aperture Standard Zoom lens. With significantly evolved AF performance, the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM OSS II can deliver the full potential of todays advanced still and movie cameras.
- Excellent contrast at high spatial frequencies means superb resolution even at F2.8. Two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (Extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements, and a floating focus mechanism control aberration, realize sharp, clear images at all zoom and aperture settings.
- This lens is the smallest and lightest F2.8 24-70mm zoom in its class2. It weighs just 24.6 oz (695 g), over 20% less than the previous model. It is 16 mm shorter, and overall volume has been reduced by approximately 18%. Excellent mobility makes it a great choice for professional or enthusiast still or movie use in a wide range of situations.
- Four of Sonys original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism, and advanced lens control achieve fast, precise and quiet AF with excellent tracking. Shoot at up to 30 frames per second3 or up to 4K 120p with a compatible camera body. A new aperture unit also contributes to high speed, enabling full AF tracking performance with the aperture stopped down4.
- Advanced lens design reduces focus breathing, focus shift and axial shift when zooming. Image and angle of view shifts are minimized for smooth movie imagery. XD Linear Motors and a new aperture unit contribute to quiet, low-vibration operation. The breathing compensation function provided in compatible series bodies is also supported5

incredible color and clarity! better image quality than sony's G prime lens!
the color and clarity seems out of this world! magical pictures. expensive lens! but worth every dollar. better than spending $300 or $400 for a lens and then not being happy with the result. this lens gives consistent results each time. takes stunning pictures in low light with such color and clarity! lens is moderately heavy. its at a weight bracket that is ok for a full day of carry. the lens feels like solid glass. in a nutshell, a premium lens with premium performance.

The best 2470.
The Sonny 24-70 f2.8 GM II is the best 24-70 standard zoom lens in the market. Sharp, contrast, lightweight with fast autofocus. It's pricy, but it's worth every penny.

Brilliant lens, my new favorite.
Works on my a6600 and my new A7R5. New aperture ring is awesome. Has a switch that makes zooming smooth or alternatively adds more friction to the zooming action to prevent unintended movement of zoom. It is lightweight, and pics are sharp even wide open. Would recommend.

incredibly clean and with no defects at all.
I bought a refurbished lens, thinking I was actually getting a used one. I had no idea what to expect, but the price was good. When it arrived, it was flawless—incredibly clean and with no defects at all. That made me really happy, so I immediately placed an order for the new-series 70–200, also refurbished. Update: I’m satisfied with this lens and bought another one, but they shipped the package earlier than I requested, and the package is missing. Amazon literally mocked me about this situation. For this reason, I’ll be returning this lens that I’ve been happily using and will buy products from BH or Adorama instead.

Great lens and the renewed from Amazon was great.
I have bought a few renewed lenses and they are undistinguishable from new. And the lens is of course great. If you need a 24-70 for your Sony full frame system this is the best there is.
