This is a remarcable excellent lens... at 24mm f2.8 it is sharp as sony 24mm GM at f2.8; to reach same IQ at 35mm vs sony 35mm GM ... you have to stop down to f4; to reach same IQ as sony 50mm GM... you have to stop down to f5.6. ......WONDERFUL lens !!!!! I will sell all my f1.4 and f2 primes as with my sony a7CR i can go to ISO 400 for low ligth without noise .... Bonus: this lens-size is as compact as the sony 24mm f1.4 GM. ... show more

Item itself is great I love the sharpness that comes out of this lens with great bokeh. I don't find the lack of range to be that much of an issue at 24-50 vs 24-70 but everyone's needs are different and I definitely appreciate the almost G master like functionality at a significantly reduced cost. I did not enjoy the experience with Amazon though as I paid for a brand new copy and instead received a used one and having to deal with the returns process on such an expensive lens definitely frustrating as I received delay after delay. ... show more

Beautiful Soft Image and Massive Distortion

This lens gives you a beautiful soft image which proves that it’s a G lens. This is best used for portraits and pictures of objects/landscapes. This could also be a good video lens given its G quality IQ and light weight especially for gimbal users. The reason I returned was because - 1. The IQ doesn’t allow me to crop like other Sony lenses do. It’s a little soft for cropping. 2. The focal range always seemed limiting to me and I desired to go beyond 50 all the time. I already have a 35mm prime and this lens doesn’t do any justice with the limited focal range. I might go out with a 35 or 24 mm prime instead of this. 3. The distortion at 24mm is massive. People who don’t shoot raw or only shoot video may never notice but something to keep in mind. Overall, if you need a light lens for travel or your only lens for the day or if you are a video shooter, this could be a good lens. For photographers- there are third party options to consider given the price which is lot more for what you get where third party manufacturers are offering good value lenses. Also it’s hard to justify this over a 24 or 35mm prime. ... show more
